"The duck is pretty cute too."
Laughter.
"I heard - " Pause, deep breath, encouraging murmurs. "I heard that he rescued it as a chick and that's why it started following him around."
"Seriously? I heard that it was a present from his girlfriend."
"I heard that it was his girlfriend."
Giggles and shrieks.
"Well, it's not like he has a girlfriend."
"Maybe he's gay."
More giggles.
"No, seriously! Didn't he always spend his time with that one guy?"
"Duh, that was his roommate." Pause. "Hey, what happened to him?"
"The roommate?"
"Yeah, didn't he have to leave school for some reason?"
"Maybe he got someone pregnant."
"Maybe he's on the run from the law."
Laughter.
"I heard that he eloped with his girlfriend."
"You're kidding. Wasn't he, like, sixteen?"
"Or maybe he and Fakir just had a bad breakup."
Giggles; shrieks.
"So is the duck, like, his rebound relationship?"
"I wonder when they had their first kiss?"
"But you're right, he's never had a girlfriend." Exaggerated sigh. "God, why is it always the cute ones?"
"Yeah, don't you just hate how the hot guys keep falling in love with ducks?"
