I love the way so many of your sentences seem beautifully poetic. The last line, especially, was particularly touching. Ysa, this was wonderful. ^_^ Thank you!
(My headspace is a little screwed up about it right now--I just finished posting some odd semi-meta things that came up while I was editing it. And the song that the title and framework came from, because I'm a dork like that. ^_^)
Well, the song seems very pretty lyric wise. ^^ I had never heard of Tori Amos until I started talking to you and Flamika. XD *currently on an Anna Nalick kick*
"Seaside" is a lovely little song--it's not one of my very favorites, but I like listening to it. ^^
I have some Anna Nalick downloaded (already had both of the songs you linked the other day), but I haven't spent a lot of time listening to new things recently.
That was beautiful. I love the lyricism behind your prose, and this piece in particular was amazing, but my favorite thing about it is the awesome characterization. I just love your interpretation of Haru; he is such a boy and yet such a man at once, and it's amazing how that comes across. I love how he sees her, and how she responds to him. Beautiful!
My favorite line: [...]but beauty is only beauty, a birthright of their family. The flaws are different, are hers, history embedded in flesh and bone, meant to be cherished. Here, this happened here, and you're still walking and unbroken.
*^^* I'm really glad that comes through, because I definitely see him as a mix of awkward and adolescent but way too old for his years. But it's not something I know how to pin down or convey deliberately.
I tend to avoid phrasing it as 'eating disorder'*, but her relationship with food and her body is something that really intrigues me (ditto Haru's reaction to it, which I figure must have changed after ch. 106-107). I ended up posting about it a bit last night, after I posted this fic, because editing this crystalized some things for me, but I think I'm still working through it in my head. ^^
Thanks, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
* not because I think her relationship with food *isn't* disordered, because it clearly is, but because the term tends to make a lot of people think strictly in terms of anorexia and/or bulimia, neither of which really applies to her.
