Although Cloud disliked the fact that he had to fight and the reason behind it, he still enjoyed his little victories. Each battle won was another testament to his strength and his growing abilities and he took tremendous pride in that.
This time was no different. With a fierce swing of his sword, he eliminated the fearsome monster before him. He stood there on the field, the wind blowing back his spikey blonde hair, a distant smile on his face. Proud with victory, he could feel his chest swelling and he felt 10 feet tall.
He never saw it coming. Standing there invincible on the field he paid no mind to his teammates standing behind him, especially not the dark haired girl running toward him. As he smiled and slid his sword onto his back, she dashed around and lept into his arms, her mouth finding his in a surprise rush. Cloud tumbled back onto the ground with Tifa on top of him, his eyes wide.
And just as quickly as it began it was over and Tifa had retreated giggling to the campfire, leaving Cloud stunned and wondering about his guard.
