Of course, Kaiba Corp’s PR department is terrified that their fight is going to hit the news-media. After all, Kaiba Seto’s reputation has withstood many scandals, but being labeled a domestic abuser probably is not a scandal he’d be able to walk away from.
Anzu protests to the woman who calls her on the phone and tells her all that she while she’s a girl and a friend, she most certainly isn’t Kaiba Seto’s girlfriend. And that surely there must be better things for the PR department to worry about - like, say, whether their boss is going to kill himself - than worry about a stupid three-seconds where both she and Kaiba-kun lost their heads.
“Not if it hits Youtube,” the woman tells her, grimly. “We’re trying to locate all the copies of the security footage. And who knows if any of the maids managed to get a snapshot or a video with a cell.”
Anzu murmurs something that she hopes sounds sympathetic, but she really doesn’t care about Kaiba Corp’s potential image problem, not when the number one image of Kaiba Corp is still refusing to see his psychiatrist.
That - as much as Anzu would like it to be - isn’t the end of the matter, and she arrives home from school the next day to find a bouquet of spring flowers, complete with a small envelope filled with crisp, new banknotes. No note.
She puts the flowers in water, watching as the snow-drops slowly open in the warmth of her bedroom.
She thinks of Kaiba all alone in that big house, of all the ways he could harm himself. Thinks of the money PR gave her to make sure she keeps her mouth shut and then - with something like a smile - reaches for her cell-phone.
