rainbowserenity for beta-ing...at 1am. XD Also, I'm sorry Riku/Sora and/or Sora/Kairi fans. It was called happiness, and I didn't want to do the norm of making them happy! :D Hm... I think I actually like Riku/Kairi. :D On the bright side, I have two more drabbles to post before I'm done with this challenge.. (which I shall post later. :D) Muwah~
And yes. I do love Sora. So very much. D:
Putting others happiness above yours makes you a better person, right?
Sora was beginning to regret the thought, as he, along with Kairi, Riku, Tidus and Selphie, were enjoying sodas at the mall. There was no way he couldn’t feel like the odd man out, the fifth wheel, seeing as Selphie and Tidus were snuggling and Riku and Kairi were far too close for two people sharing a soda needed to be.
Unfortunately for the young Keybearer, he wasn’t that noticed at all. Heck, they didn’t hear him when he offered to pay the check, nor when he physically got up to pay the check. As he was paying it, all he could hear were people whispering how cute of a couple Tidus and Selphie made and how great of a boyfriend Riku would be for Kairi. Unlike a certain someone of course.
At that point, Sora made sure to keep his head down to count his change, knowing that eyes would be on him.
Was it his fault that, after almost two years of adventuring, that his affections for Kairi turned out to be nothing of that of a sister? Was it his fault that he was attracted to his best (male) friend?
Couldn’t people just shut up and let the perfect couple get on with their lives?
Hurried footsteps behind him forced him to turn around to see an almost out of breath Riku and a grinning Kairi.
“Sorry about that!” Riku offered, shaking his head and rest his arm on Kairi’s shoulder. Sora twitched. Not much, he hoped, seeing as his affection for Riku was never publicized. He was never going to make it, anyway.
Kairi smiled and leaned her head on Riku. “Yeah …apparently, Tidus and Selphie were doing a little too much at the table and now they’re getting yelled at! Funny, huh?”
Riku smiled down to Kairi and gently kissed her forehead. “I’m sure we were doing more…we weren’t caught for it though.” Kairi grinned in response before leaning up and closing her eyes…
Oh, gag me. Sora didn’t mind their relationship - really! He didn’t! …Much- he didn’t mind the PDA, and he didn’t mind the fact that he used to like one of them and currently loved the other.
But dang. Did they have to keep making out in front of him?!
Sora shook his head and pivoted on the ball of his foot before heading off to the island dock. Apparently Riku had noticed Sora’s disappearance in the middle of his intense make out session, seeing as both teenagers raced up to the brunet and grabbed his boat before he could start paddling off.
“What’s wrong?!” Riku asked, his face concerned. Sora had to focus on Kairi; if he looked at Riku too long, he would eventually blurt out the truth.
“Do you guys love each other?” The couple exchanged glances before smiling at each other. Sora took that as a yes, and asked another question. “Are you both happy?”
Kairi blinked. “Sora, are you trying to imply something? Yes, we are...are we supposed to know something else?”
Finally giving into temptation, Sora allowed himself one glance at Riku, the boy’s perfect face marred by worry and fear. Sora shook his head before gently prying the hands off his boat. “Be sure to make the most of it!” He exclaimed with a broad smile on his face as he paddled away. Kairi and Riku blinked at each other before shrugging and smiling in response to the brunet. But by then, Sora had already looked away.
He didn’t want his two friends to see the tears that continually were escaping his eyes.
