“They are!”
“They’re not.”
“Oh they so are!”
“No way.”
“Oh come on. How can you say that?”
“It’s so obvious.”
“How?”
“Well LOOK at them!”
“Oookay…”
“See the way he’s standing so close?”
“That’s nothing.”
“Their hands’ll be touching any second.”
“They’re working here.”
“Girl, please! My boys are such an item any one can see it!”
Eric pouted, “Hey!”
“Aw baby! You’re my boy too. We just have to find you a nice girl.”
“Well…” Calleigh still wasn’t sure.
“He’s smiling.”
“So?”
“So come on!”
“Girl, how many times have you seen him smile like that?”
A long, silent pause followed as Eric and Calleigh each tried to answer that particular question.
“Well…” Calleigh frowned again.
“Never.” Eric was positive.
Alexx just smiled knowingly.
“We’re being watched,” Horatio whispered, without looking across to where his team were trying their best not to be too obvious yet failing miserably.
“Uh-huh.”
Speed didn’t look up from his microscope. He was far too busy with a fascinating chemical study of soil composition from a crime scene near Blue Lagoon Lake to pay much attention to anything else going on around him. At least until Horatio pulled him back, spun him round and kissed him a show of deep, unbridled passion, snatching every ounce of breath from the young man’s lungs, coloring his cheeks and leaving him blinking in tremulous surprise.
“I just wanted to say thank you for last night,” H murmured by way of explanation as Speed gave him a bashful smile.
And from out in the corridor there came a collective sigh of approval, a great deal of loud and excited clapping, and the patter of feet quickly running away as their impromptu audience realized they were busted.
