The Curtain's Fall
Finally, finally, finally, is all that Dark can think.
Finally, he knows he's in full control.
He had been watching and participating in Daisuke's little play for a long time. He had been sneering and rolling his eyes at how pathetic it is, and he kept waiting for a chance for him to interfere. Daisuke always won in the end, and Dark was well aware that he's just a pawn on the journey that the boy is going through to receive that happy ending of his. Daisuke always got to live and laugh, and Dark had never known what it was like to do that while actually being sincere about it.
And suddenly, it all changed. He saw the curtains fall over Daisuke and over his play. It was the end of the show. The audience, the other stage members all fled, never to return. There was nothing except a chance waiting to be taken advantage of.
Dark did what he had to in that moment.
He took over.
He allowed the darkness of the curtains to consume Daisuke, knowing it would soon disappear. He heard Daisuke's pleading, desperate voice, asking what was going on, what was happening to him. He listened until it was an echo, and until it was nothing but a memory that would soon be forgotten. He waited in his position until he thought that his heart was his own, until his breathing didn't feel so rushed and shallow, because he was providing oxygen for two people instead of one.
When he was reassured, he knew he'd won.
Finally.
Now, he pulls the curtains away from him, revealing the light and the beginning of his play that he believes will be better than anything he's ever known before this moment.
