Today, officially, I have lost more than 10% of my starting weight.
*cheering*
This was my first little goal and I have reached it and am really thrilled that the changes I have made have worked. And not only have I lost this weight, I am a size smaller and I am fitter and I feel really good.
To celebrate my success today I have done a couple of things. On my morning walk I went up the hill at the back of the suburb. I was able to look over Canberra in the new morning light. All the street lights were still on. The sky was lightening and the pale sunlight was struggling through. I love the view. I love the breadth of the land, I love the Brindabellas (the mountains away to the south). I love that time of morning where there is peace, when the day is full of potential. And I got to be there and think about what I had achieved. And then I chose to wear clothes that fit. Most of my work clothes now are a little baggy and I am not wearing them today. I am wearing clothes that fit well and make me feel good. I am also wearing my pretty bra and knickers set which fit again. My plan was to celebrate my body, feel good in my body.
And so, the stats for this weeks weigh in:
Start weight (3/1/2011) 140.9kg (310 lbs)
Todays weight (7/3/2011) 125.5kg (276 lbs)
Loss this past week 1.9 kg (4.2 lbs)
Total loss 15.4 kg (34 lbs) which is 10.9%
Well, it was another really big loss. I feel a bit silly for not thinking about this but I increased my exercise for this week and decreased my food allocation by a little also this week. Note to self: don't do that again. Every 10kg or so I drop my food allocation just a little - it is equivalent to 1x30g slice of bread or my skim latte at work. So, it is not a big decrease in food. But I also increased my exercise from 3-4 a week to 6-7 a week. In the future, when I change my exercise, I need to keep my food at the same level for a couple of weeks, even if it is at that point when I should be dropping it a little. I wasn't hungry at all last week, I didn't feel deprived and I think that I was probably ok. But for this week I am going to pick up that extra allocation again and keep up the additional exercise to try and slow things down.
I enjoyed the extra walks. I have walking buddies on Tuesday and Thursday and it is good catching up time. In the last week I went walking 6 out of the 7 days. On Saturday I had hoped to go walking to aim for a 7 day consecutive stretch but I got caught up in housework and shopping. I used the housework as an opportunity to move and I did more than I usually do - it was 90 minutes of tidying, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming. Yay for me! And Yay for a clean house :)
I am sure there are challenges this week but I can't think of them. I do know that I am really determined and motivated to keep going and I know that I will meet the challenges and get through them.
