Updates/Extended Deadline for Offshoot, Issue 2

Sep 22, 2009 14:34

Hey everyone, a few weeks ago I posted about a call to submissions for my art/writing e-zine, Offshoot. I wanted to let you all know that the deadline has been extended to October 10. The theme is still "basic needs," but I will now be accepting 72dpi images since Issue 2 will be only digital (I hope to have a print version for Issue 3). I have a need in particular for writing, but I will definitely continue to accept art/photography as well.

Deadline: October 10, 2009

Theme:
"Basic Needs." What are the basic needs for societies or individuals? What things are absolutely necessary for life?

You can explore this topic any way you want; no interpretation is incorrect. Whether you align with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, think that happiness or personal beliefs are essential for survival, or would shrivel up and die without your iPod, I want to know about it.

Submission Guidelines
These are the same for both art and writing (for details on specific types of entry, see headings below).
-Send submissions as attachments to offshootmag@gmail.com
-Please include your name, location (State, Country), and website.
-Send only your own work; disrespect of copyrights is frowned upon.
-I assume no ownership of your work, though by submitting you agree that I can include it in Offshoot (print & PDF formats) only.

Submission Guidelines: Visual Art
-72dpi JPGs; up to 5 per entrant
-please denote any titles
-zip files preferred, but image attachments okay
-no WinRAR files
-images of all visual art-forms welcome

Submission Guidelines: Writing
-Fiction or non-fiction: 2,000 words or less
-Poems: 10 per person, unless you're re-writing the Iliad.
-Accepted file types: .doc, .docx, .txt, .rtf .odt

Please note:
For space reasons, entries are not guaranteed inclusion, but all are welcome and appreciated. Please follow submission guidelines, as it makes it easier on both of us; most non-included entries from the first issue did not follow requirements.

Can't wait to see what you all come up with!
