Warnings: None, just good clean fluffy fun.
Notes: I love the idea of Nick and Catherine. This is my homage to the pairing that would melt CSI.
"Do you realize this is our first date?" Nick asked as he poured a cup of tea for Catherine.
"Nicky, how many times have we been to dinner or breakfast together? I don't really think this counts as a first date," Catherine replied before sipping the hot tea.
"That's not the same. This is the first time we've been out since we've been…you know," He finished with a wicked grin.
"You can't even say it, can you?" She chuckled slightly, "I thought this was a mature relationship."
"It is, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun with it," He redirected the conversation back to their prior subject, "I know this isn't much of a first date."
"I don't know," She said as she looked around, "A nice Chinese restaurant, soup for two, and tea at midnight," She smiled, "What more could a girl ask for?"
"Now, you're just patronizing me."
"Oh Nicky, now come on. It's just that really this has been building up for years. To call this a first date would be like calling our relationship something new. It's not, not really. We've been growing towards one another for the last seven years. There have been bumps in the road, and we've had to jump a few hurdles. But here we are," She said as she took his hand and laced her fingers with his, "Our relationship has been growing all this time. This isn't a first date. First dates are full of awkwardness and getting to know one another. I already know you fairly well if I do say so myself," She grinned, "And I haven't felt awkward around you for a real long time."
"Okay, that part is true, and I get that we've been building this relationship. But honestly, Catherine, this is the first time we've been out together since furthering our relationship. I'd say this is a first date."
"Okay, well, just so as you know," Catherine declared as she straightened her posture and held her head high, "I don't put out on the first date."
"Did I say first date? Maybe this is just our first dinner out," He fumbled slightly before trying to correct his error.
Catherine laughed as she snuggled closer to him in the booth seat and wrapped her arms around him, "I knew you'd see things my way eventually," She pressed her lips to his before smiling, "I'm glad we finally got here."
"So am I," Nick agreed as he kissed her once more and hugged her to him tightly. It had taken too long to get here, but the wait had definitely been worth it.
