I love how this starts...a typical thursday night (wtf, self, but I think this story reads like it starts on a Thursday) and an unexpected meeting with the past. :) Took me a moment to figure out that Eddie=Eddie, but, that's because I'm slow :D

Also, I really like how it says Steve/Bren in the header (and, let's be honest, I've been wondering where in this story Stevie is...since the first mentioning of Shanny's name) but it's so much in the background that it's really not there?

Ryan's thought process is too adorable. I like how that undercurrent of tension remains with him...and how he stumbles through his own bad pick up lines :D

Nick raising one eyebrow...don't hit me...reminds me of Spock. Also the fact that he *knows* *everything*. Nick is awesome.

What a cute ass it is. *random comment* *still snickering about Dru taking pictures of it*

Also, the tagline is made of win. There's no black and white, only grey and more grey.

Drapes. I think Drapes is awesome, too. You remember the Motorcity Fil/groundhog day spot they did? For some reason, I imagine him grinning like that, here, where he asks Ryan about the phone call. Only in a pinstriped suit and a white shirt.

...the moment you mentioned Eddie's eyes, it was evident who we're talking about, but I really, really needed this far (at first reading) to figure it out. See how dumb I am. But I like this scene - the conflict of work and private life, and the whole theme of "beloved enemy", it's very adorable to watch this play out.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck."
"Again?" Eddie yawned as he rolled onto his back and stretched his arms over his head. "Sounds good to me."
I have to admit it, I laughed at this part - Ryan freaking out (badly) and Eddie just not getting it *laughs*

Also, very telling that his first instinct is to go to Nick. Nick=awesome, but the scary kind.

"I know Eddie. He's smart. What I don't know is how straight he is." you know, I read this far, and literally said out loud, "Not too straight, he's sleeping with you"...and only then, I read the next line and had to laugh again.

"You picked up a few too," Eddie confirmed with a grin. *laughs* so, Nick says Ryan hasn't looked at any other guy since he and Eddie broke up; and Eddie says Ryan picked up a few new tricks; I wonder who's right there :P

"weatherman" sounds like a bad undercover name. *laughs* As if Chris is working for the FBI or something.

Also, again, Drapes is awesome. Hey, we just killed someone - coffee and pie? Yeah, another normal day at the office... *laughs*

Ryan honestly does not look like someone who's always interested in food *random comment about his skinny ass*

My head is filled with thoughts on the conversation where Ryan finally tells Eddie, but I can't bring them in order and so I'll leave it at adfddkdkff!!!!!!! to tell you how I feel about it. There's so many awesome pieces in it. For example the little glimpse into Nick's character, about how he wants to shoot everyone who says bad things about Chris, and how his protective side comes out there (foreshadowing??).

Eddie and Nick meeting - and the whole "an eye for another eye" thing...I think Nick with an eyepatch would look adorable. *laughs* Chris would freak out, and probably everybody else too, but it would be very adorable. (and a very angsty storyline, in case one of you is feeling evil)

"I won't get in your way, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with tipping you off."
Somehow, I can't fight the feeling that Nick would just send Ryan and his puppy dog eyes and Eddie would tell him everything he wanted to know :D

I know Eddie says he won't throw Nick in jail, but it would be really interesting to see what he'd do if he gets in between the frontlines, here...say, one of his coworkers gets a lead and plans on arresting Ryan and Nick and everyone, for example...what would he do?

...yeah. You know, I could have said all that in one word:

asdkfdskkdkdfkdskl!!!!!!!!
