flipping the bird
wow, where do i begin? see this is what happens when i
dont update for 4 days. my whole life changes. this is a
good one though. ill just jump right into it. so, i was
laying in bed on wednesday and the phone woke me up at
12:30. i know, so early. anyways, it was jason wade, the
current cardinal bird. he says, so were having some
problems and i cant make it to the caravan right now, i was
wondering if you were still interested? if so, come on
over and you can try on the suit (not a costume) and ill
try to get you used to it. oh yeah, and the next caravan
is tomorrow. well, i knew this. i was like hell yeah im
interested. i went over and tried it on. then did some
cheers. it was amazing. even more amazing was the
cardinal caravan the next day. it was 92* outside and i
was in a fur suit running around and being crazy and i was
hot and sweaty and it was some of the most fun ive ever
had. unbelievable. it was so cute. all the little kids
and the pictures and the autographs. awesome. i loved
it. it was so great. i am the university of louisville
mascot. i am an ncaa division one collegiate mascot.
unbleievable. it is everything for which i have been
working. i was so devistated a while back when i found out
that i wouldnt be able to even have a shot. now im there,
and its great. it all fell into place. perfect.
anyways...
the cardinal bird showed up at laurens graduation party.
too bad i didnt get to see it. i had gone to check on
the... things... downstairs... or something. it was fun.
that was how i let my aunts and uncles and cousins know
that i was the mascot. it was great. awe, but i did scare
the hell out of mrs. hollifields baby. that sucked. oh
well, i guess it comes with the territory.
so i gave my sister a pocket knife with LRC 2005 engraved
in old english on it for graduation. she really likes it.
i can tell. im glad. also at my sisters graduation, my
grandmother said, hey, come over here. i sat down and she
put something metal in my hand and said, this was your
grandfathers, and had i only found one, i would have kept
it, but i found two, so i figured you and your cousin
should each have one. then she let go. it is a u of l
1980 ncaa champs zippo lighter. it is amazing. i love
it. working condition. its amazing.
so, mr vernia came over to my party and had a cd with him.
it was from jenvern. thanks for the cd. its really good.
im listenting to it right now. also, thank you for the

so the other day, when i told my dad that i was the bird,
my sister got all jealous that i was getting all the
attention. so she said, oh yea? well when i get all big
and famous, this cardinal bird thing will seem like
nothing. then dad said, lauren, your brother is the
cardinal bird. theres nothing you can do to top that. so
i was standing outside in the rain grilling with my dad,
and he was still going on about how excited he is that im
the bird. he said, i told some of the people at work you
would not believe what i have in my basement right now. he
is so excited. he said im getting good at grilling too.
that a big compliment from your dad. later that night
while we were driving, my sister said, have you ever seen
dad like this? he is so excited for you. crazy.
anyways, i wrote a song and i guess ill put that on here
later. not this time. sorry all you poetry lovers who
read this. i guess that means, sorry no one. hehe, just
kidding. anyways, this is becoming much too long. im
sorry to anyone who is still reading this, but i want to
remember that this happened. im pretty excited. anyways.
