Part 3 (b)- The WendyHangeng-Bird

Blood covered the right side of Sungmin’s head.

Siwon looked up in wide eyed panic. “Wh-what do I do?”

Kyuhyun seemed to recover first. “We need something to… we- we have to stop the blood flow.”

“Yes,” Heechul nodded, trying to keep it together. “Does anyone have cloth on them?”

“Here.” There was a loud tearing sound and then Hangeng was forcing himself between Shindong and Kyuhyun and shoving a blue strip of cloth into Siwon’s hand. Siwon nodded and shakily pressed the cloth to Sungmin’s head.

Yesung, not knowing what else to do, pulled the sobbing Ryeowook to him and muffled the man’s cries with his shoulder. Ryeowook was soon hiccupping and shaking silently in Yesung’s rabbit clad arms.

“I… I don’t want to hurt him, but… How hard should I…? I don’t know what I’m doing,” Siwon’s uneasy whispers seemed infinitely louder in the sudden absence of Ryeowook’s crying. “How can there be so much blood?”

Henry knelt down beside Siwon and placed his hand on his friend’s left shoulder. “We should get him inside,” he suggested softly. “We need to get the blood wiped up and see how deep the wound is.” Siwon was scooping Sungmin up almost before Henry had said anything. “Hyung?” Henry swallowed roughly when Siwon finally met his eyes. He couldn’t ever remember seeing his hyung looking so lost. “It will be fine,” Henry said, as confidently as he could manage (which, honestly, wasn’t that confident just then). “I’ve heard that head wounds always bleed a lot. Even small cuts.”

“That’s right,” Heechul nodded. “I heard that too. The amount of blood is often deceiving.”

Siwon nodded before following Shindong down the tunnel and back to the underground home of the lost boys. The others went after them quickly. All except for the odd little boy, dressed as a skunk, who remained eerily frozen in the forest, his face to the sky.

**…..**…..**…..**

Upon entering the room, Shindong threw a pillow and blanket out of the nearest hammock and hastily arranged them on the ground. “Put him here.”

While Siwon was placing Sungmin down on the make-shift bed, he heard the others enter.

“We’ll need more cloth.”

“And water.”

“Zhou Mi, go get some water,” Heechul ordered.

“How am I supposed to do that, ge?”

“There is a lake just outside; figure something out.”

Zhou Mi nodded. “Right.” He only spared a moment to grab a container before he was off.

“I need a knife. Does anyone have a knife?”

“There’s one behind you, next you that bed.”

“Oh, thanks.”

“Ryeowook, what are you doing?”

“I need a blanket; I have to cut strips of cloth for Sungmin.”

“Here, Ryeowook, hand me the knife; I’ll do it.”

“Make sure they’re a good size.”

“This?”

“Yeah, that looks good.”

“Should we be doing… you know… CPR or something?”

“Does anyone know CPR?”

“Henry does.”

“He doesn’t need CPR, hyung. See? He’s breathing.”

“Here’s the water,” the returned Zhou Mi panted before making his way over to Siwon and passing him the leather quiver he had picked up by the door. “It was all I could find,” he shrugged as his odd load was carefully taken from him.

“Thank you, Zhou Mi,” Siwon whispered.

“Here,” Ryeowook handed Siwon a few strips of what was once an old, worn quilt. “Yesung’s making more.”

Siwon nodded his gratitude and immediately went to work cleaning the blood from Sungmin’s face and neck. Siwon started at the bottom and worked his way up. More and more skin was wiped clear and still no ghastly gash was revealed. It wasn’t until he was almost finished that they discovered the wound above Sungmin’s right ear. There was a fairly large bump around the cut, but the cut itself was thankfully rather small. Siwon found it immensely easier to breathe once he saw it.

He heard Heechul sigh in relief over his shoulder. “That’s it? It’s not so big.”

“See? Head-wounds always seem worse than they are,” another relieved voice put in.

“He still lost a lot of blood though,” Ryeowook whispered.

Right. Siwon shook his head and continued cleaning as much of the blood off Sungmin’s hair and neck as he could. Then he started wrapping one of the long cloth strips Yesung handed him around Sungmin’s head. It went around three times before he tied it off and gently laid Sungmin’s head back down.

“Do I need to do anything else?” He asked as he finally turned his gaze up to the others.

“I don’t think there’s anything else we can do,” Hangeng answered. “Except wait for him to wake up.”

“And Pray,” Yesung said softly.

“Maybe we should wake him up?” Shindong suggested.

“No, don’t wake him. I heard somewhere that if you wake a person who is unconscious you could accidentally scare them to death.”

. . .

“That’s sleepwalking, hyung. And I’m pretty sure that’s a myth.”

“Oh.”

“Uugh.”

. . .

“Was that him?”

“Is he coming around?”

“Guys, don’t crowd him.”

“Sungmin?”

**…..**…..**…..**

“Sungmin?”

Sungmin groaned again. His body was throbbing. It hurt to move. It hurt to breathe. It hurt to think.

“He’s coming around!”

Aish! Too loud! He whimpered as hoped the offending party got the memo to ‘shut up’. Something warm and firm touched his left cheek softly. Oh. That felt alright. He sighed.

“Sungmin? Can you hear me?”

Of course he could hear him. What kind of stupid question was that? “Mmm.”

Why did everything hurt so much? He frowned. Ow.

“Sungmin, can you open your eyes?”

Of course he could. … Couldn’t he? Slowly his lids raised, all the while his mind screamed ‘ow, ow, OW!’ He gasped and tried not to whimper again as the light attacked his pupils, which for some strange reason caused his head to pound.

“Oh thank God,” Siwon whispered.

Siwon.

Siwon was leaning over him. That was all he had time to register before the yelling started.

“Sungmin!”

“YES!”

“He made it!”

He winced and was eternally grateful when he heard Heechul’s familiar hiss telling the others to shut it.

Sungmin swallowed. “What the Hell happened?” He rasped. “My head feels like it’s been smashed with a mallet.”

“Well, that’s understandable,” Siwon whispered. Yay! He had apparently gotten the talk softly message. “You have a pretty big bump on your head.”

Sungmin blinked. “I do?”

Siwon nodded.

Sungmin blinked again. “Oh.” He frowned and was pleased when it didn’t hurt that time. “Why? What happened?”

“I don’t know,” Siwon admitted.

“I think you must have hit your head on a tree limb as you fell,” Kyuhyun said.

Sungmin nodded. Then he froze. “Wait. What?” He turned his head slowly to the left until Kyuhyun was in his sight. He blinked. Then he blinked again. “Am I dreaming?” He whispered to himself.

“You’re not dreaming,” Kyuhyun assured him.

“But… You’re dressed as a raccoon,” Sungmin pointed out.

Kyuhyun blinked. “And you often dream of me dressed as a raccoon, do you?”

“Well, no,” Sungmin admitted. He shook his head gently. “I am so confused. Why are you a raccoon?”

“Because Donghae hyung is a sick, sick man,” Kyuhyun deadpanned.

“Donghae? What did Donghae d-? …” Sungmin’s eyes widened before he whipped his head around to look at the others. “Ow,” he groaned. He had done that too fast. But… But. But! Animals. And a nightgown. And tinkerbell. And… Oh, shit. “I think I’d prefer to be dreaming,” he whispered.

Heechul smirked. “I think we all would.”

Sungmin sighed. “So we’re still in Peter Pan I take it? But… last thing I remember was being in the blackness… How did…?”

“Our last scene,” Hangeng explained. “Started with us free falling to the ground. The others had a make-shift net thing out of a blanket they were using to catch us. But when they caught you… Well, you were unconscious, and bleeding, and we thought…”

Sungmin nodded. “I think I get the picture.”

“I’m so glad you woke up, hyung.”

“Me too,” Sungmin smiled.

“So… what do we do now?” Henry asked.

“What do you mean?”

“With the scenes… Should we stop here and wait until Lee Teuk and the others get home? Maybe they’ll wake Donghae and…”

“. . .”

“I think we should continue the movie.”

“Yah! Are you stupid or something? You just almost died Sungmin, we are not continuing.”

“Please don’t shout. And I am not stupid. What happens if they get sucked into the movie too, huh? Then what?”

“It doesn’t matter,” Siwon answered. “There’s too much at risk if we continue.”

Sungmin sighed. “Donghae is watching T.V. in his room,” he began. “The sound is on low. Even if we all shout… will he hear it? What if we can’t get out like we did last time?”

Heechul and Hangeng exchanged looks. “We can always try right now,” Hangeng said. “We certainly have enough people.”

Sungmin winced. “Please don’t. My head might explode.”

“Cover your ears then. You need medical attention Sungmin. Much as I am sure Siwon is capable of wrapping a blanket around your head, what if you have a concussion? Or need stitches?”

“Heechul’s right,” Siwon agreed. “We need to get out of here soon and get you to the Emergency Room.”

Sungmin frowned. “I’ll be fine.”

Siwon shook his head. “This isn’t up for negotiation.”

“Cover your ears Sungmin.”

Sungmin huffed. “Fine.”

**…..**…..**…..**

“Damn traffic!”

“Hyung calm down.”

“I am calm!”

. . .

“Okay then.”

**…..**…..**…..**

“Stupid traffic. Is there another way we could go? A Detour?”

“All ways are jammed. There is an accident up a head which is being cleared.”

“Right. Lee Teuk is going to kill me.”

**…..**…..**…..**

“DONGHAE!!!”

“Okay, I think we need to give it up,” Shindong panted. “He isn’t hearing us.”

“Yes, please stop,” Sungmin agreed. “My ears feel like they’re bleeding.”

Siwon removed Sungmin’s hands from said ears and took a look. “They’re fine,” he smiled.

“Aish; not in here you two.”

“I hate to say this but I think Sungmin is right. I think we should continue the next scene.”

“Yah!”

“How can you even suggest that?”

“Sungmin almost died!”

“Ow. Stop yelling!”

. . .

“What is the next scene anyhow?” Yesung asked very, very quietly.

“Well we go outside and Peter banishes Tinkerbell.”

“That’s right,” Sungmin waved his right hand at Heechul. “Be gone, Tink.”

Heechul scoffed. “That was pathetic.”

Sungmin smiled.

“And then Peter sends the lost boys, along with Michael and John, off to hunt some Indians.”

“That doesn’t sound very nice.”

“I don’t want to leave Sungmin like this.”

“I’m not dying,” Sungmin huffed. “And as your leader, Peter, I command you all to… Siwon, help me sit up, will you? . . . Thank you. Where was I? Oh, yes: I command you all to go hunt the Indians.”

Henry smiled. “Nicely done.”

“Thank you,” Sungmin bowed. “What next?”

“Next, you take Wendy to Mermaid Lagoon to see the Mermaids.”

“Mermaids?” Hangeng frowned.

“Mermaids?” Sungmin exclaimed in excitement.

“Yeah.”

“That’s it,” Sungmin held his arms out to Siwon. “Stand me up, I want to see the mermaids.”

“Sungmin,” Siwon sighed even as he did as he was told and helped the man stand up. “It’s too dangerous.”

“It is not,” Sungmin insisted. “It’s mermaids Siwon. Mermaids~!” He repeated when Siwon opened his mouth to say something else. “How dangerous can mermaids be?”

“I don’t know,” Siwon frowned. “But I don’t want to find out.”

“Siwon,” Heechul began.

“No,” Siwon snapped. “No, hyung. It is too dangerous. Why do we need to do this? Why can’t we just wait until someone comes home and realizes what has happened. Or… Or, until Donghae wakes up?”

“And how long will that be?” Heechul asked.

“. . . “

“What happens if we are stuck in here for the next ten hours, huh? You know it could happen, Donghae is a deep sleeper and he never remembers to set an alarm. You said it yourself, Siwon, we need to get Sungmin to the Hospital; his head is still bleeding for crying out loud!”

Sungmin winced.

“Sorry.” Heechul sighed. “We need to continue with the movie to get out of the movie,” Heechul continued at a calmer volume. “The sooner the better; we’ll use cheats when we can to shorten the scenes but we should start as soon as possible.”

Siwon sighed. “I still don’t like this.”

“I don’t think any of us like this. . . . Apart from Sungmin who seems pretty darned excited to see the mermaids.”

“They’re mermaids!”

“Alright, point taken.”

“Fine, let’s get outside and get the scene over with.”

They went back to the forest slowly. The kid in the skunk outfit was still frozen there. Creepy.

“Tink,” Sungmin said with his nose in the air. “I banish you.”

Heechul scoffed before he hugged his wounded friend and went off into the trees.

“Lost boys, John, Michael, go and get some Indians.”

“Aye, aye, Peter,” Henry grinned.

They also took turns hugging Sungmin before they left. Siwon made him promise to be careful before he would leave. And then it was just Sungmin and Hangeng. “So… Wendy,” Sungmin smirked. Hangeng rolled his eyes. “Shall we adjourn to Mermaid Lagoon?”

“Sure thing, Peter.”

Sungmin grinned. “Then follow me!” He turned around and then froze. “Wait. Which way is it to Mermaid Lagoon?”

. . .

“Yah! Stop laughing!”
