Title: Heart Problems - Part 47
Author: Me! (2theChangmin)
Pairing: Heechul/Zhou Mi (hints at others)
Rating: PG-13 (for language)
Summary: Heechul may have feelings for his new class mate. Either that or he has some kind of weird disease that causes random heart palpitations. Since the new class mate in question happens to be a guy, he’s hoping it’s the latter.
This is the LAST PART to Heart Problems!! (Excluding the epilogue, which is to come)
Warning: This chapter is longer than the others, (way longer; it's over 10,000 words) and because of this, I couldn’t post it the same way that I had posted the others. So prepare yourself for the slight difference. Oh, and the awesome: prepare yourself for the awesomeness as well. (Ke, ke, ke…) Also: I have said this before, but I am highly computer challenged and had to have a friend walk me through posting this a different way, (it took me a while and I am very, very thankful to her!). So, because of her amazing patience, this part is dedicated to sujusarang! XD
(Also, I’m sorry I couldn’t post this part sooner; again, I blame the fact that I had to learn how to post it another way. Oh, and sorry for the rambling! XD Lol.)
Alright, enough with the stupid warning; go read it already. ^.^
“Siwon!”
Whoa. Did Heechul just see what he thought he had just seen?
Zhou Mi blinked. “Should you… go after him?” He asked uncertainly.
Heechul scoffed mentally. ‘Yeah, sure,’ he thought sarcastically. He could just see himself going after Siwon to see if the man was okay only to walk in on the guy making out with Sungmin. Again. No thank you. He did not want to see that ever again. “They’ll be fine.” He had learned his lesson the last time. The lesson: never try to find Siwon when he was alone with Sungmin. Even if he was mad at the guy now, he wouldn’t stay so for long. This was Sungmin they were talking about, and Siwon. Sungmin to Siwon was like… like… Zhou Mi to Heechul.
Wait. Was he really that bad? Had he really not been able to stay mad at Zhou Mi for more than a few minutes? … Crap. He and Siwon needed to man up.
“But what if they’re not?”
What? Oh.
“They will be,” Heechul repeated. He sighed when Zhou Mi still didn’t look certain. “Look, I know Siwon; there is no way he is going to stay mad at Sungmin for more than ten minutes and I really don’t want to catch the two of them trying to eat each other’s face.” Again, he added mentally.
“But-”
“If he’s not fine by lunch, then I’ll talk to him. Okay?”
Zhou Mi nodded satisfied.
Heechul ended up being right. But then again, when was he not right? Exactly. Heechul was always right; if only to himself.
Ten minutes before the bell, Siwon met up with Heechul and Hangeng in front of Heechul’s locker. And he was smiling; which clearly meant that he was no longer angry.
Heechul rolled his eyes when he saw the grinning man approach them. “I don’t even want to know.”
Hangeng looked confused. “Want to know what?”
“Whatever it was Sungmin did to make Siwon smile in such a creepy way.”
Hangeng looked at Siwon before replying. “You’re right,” he agreed with Heechul. “I don’t want to know either.”
“Hey,” Siwon tried to be serious but failed utterly and just continued to smile.
“You two made up then?” Heechul smirked.
Siwon grinned wider. “Yeah…”
Hangeng laughed. “Oh hey,” he turned to Heechul. “Are we going over to your house tonight or my house?”
Heechul blinked. That night was… crap. Friday. How could he have forgotten that the three of them always did something on Fridays?! Aish! But… He had Zhou Mi coming over for dinner. Double crap. Maybe they could come over afterward? Around nine or ten? “Um…”
“Actually,” Siwon interrupted sheepishly. “I can’t make it tonight…” Heechul and Hangeng looked at Siwon in disbelief. They always spent Friday nights together. Not usually, not mostly, but always.
“Why?” Hangeng asked.
“Well…” Siwon began. “I mean, I will if you guys really want me to but I figured… with the competition being just a week away I should practice a lot more then I am right now…”
Heechul smirked. “Would these practices be with Sungmin by any chance?”
Siwon coughed. “Yeah. But that’s not the reason-”
“Save it,” Hangeng cut him off. “It’s fine.”
“You guys are really okay with it?”
“Yeah, why not?” Hangeng assured him. “But you so owe us.”
“And it had better be good,” Heechul added.
Siwon chuckled. “Okay, I got it.”
So then, Heechul supposed, it was just going to be him and Hangeng that night. The two of them decided that they’d have a movie marathon.
Or at least, that was the plan before lunch time.
“Should I just come straight over from school? Or should I go home first?”
“Uh… I don’t know,” Heechul shrugged. “Either way is fine.”
“Then I’ll just come over straight from school.”
Heechul struggled not to laugh at the way Zhou Mi was practically bouncing on the balls of his feet in anticipation. Personally, Heechul didn’t understand why the guy was so excited. It was just dinner, and Zhou Mi had already met his mother; twice in fact. True, both meetings were a little rushed, but still.
Heechul shook his head as they reached his locker. Zhou Mi said his goodbye and continued on outside. Heechul paused what he was doing in order to take the time and fully admire his boyfriend’s perfectly shaped…
“Ahem!”
Heechul jumped out of his admiring thoughts and turned around to glare at two of his so called ‘friends’. “What?” In case they couldn’t tell that he was irritated from the glare, his voice definitely gave the fact away.
“Nothing,” Hangeng said innocently. Yeah, ‘innocent’ Heechul’s foot! “I just had something stuck in my throat.”
Heechul narrowed his eyes further. A likely story… They couldn’t give him five seconds to check out his boyfriend? Aish.
“Anyway,” Siwon said in between chuckles. “Shall we go to lunch?”
Heechul shut his locker and gave the man a ‘don’t think I don’t know you had something to do with this too’ look. He got back a wide eyed ‘I don’t know what you mean hyung’ stare. Yeah, right. Heechul mentally scoffed. Siwon knew perfectly well what Heechul meant. And Heechul knew perfectly well that Siwon knew perfectly well what it was Heechul meant meant. Wait… Yeah.
They started walking towards the cafeteria when two people in the hallway caught Heechul’s eye. “Um… you guys go ahead; I’ll be right there.”
Siwon and Hangeng gave him a questioning look but kept going without him anyhow. Heechul snickered in his head: Ke, ke, ke… and tried to be as inconspicuous as possible as he watched the scene in front of him. Spying? Psh. Could it really be called spying if you were watching a stalker? … Yeah, he didn’t think so.
“I’m really looking forward to tonight; I can’t wait to finish my discussion with your father about ‘The Wolfman’.”
“Uh… yeah,” Jessica said. “Kyuhyun… my father isn’t going to be there tonight.”
“Oh.” Heechul almost laughed at the confused look on Kyuhyun’s face. He didn’t though, because that would have alerted the other two of his presence; he contented himself with laughing in his head and continued watching.
“That’s okay, right?”
“Yeah, sure,” Kyuhyun smiled. “I just assumed he’d be there is all.”
Jessica smiled. “Hey, do you want to come over a little earlier and we could order in some food?”
“Why?”
Bahaha!!! Heechul almost busted a gut trying to keep his laughter at bay. He’s sorry, but this kid is seriously dense. And his face!! Oh man, that confused expression is just so priceless. Heechul had definitely made the right decision to eavesdrop… er… spy on these two. He patted himself on the back, metaphorically speaking of course.
“Never mind,” Jessica sighed. She turned to walk away but paused to tell him one last thing before she left. “You know? You’re pretty dense.”
As soon as Jessica was out of sight, Heechul released his laughter. Kyuhyun jumped and whipped around. He blinked when he noticed Heechul there, leaning against a locker for support, laughing his ass off. “What?” Kyuhyun asked.
This seemed to make Heechul laugh some more. Kyuhyun had to wait for Heechul to stop before he got an answer. “You… just don’t get it, do you?”
Kyuhyun tilted his head to the side. “Get what?”
“Wow,” Heechul deadpanned. “Okay, look, for some reason you seem to have missed this, but she likes you.”
“Who?” Heechul didn’t answer that; he just raised an eyebrow. It didn’t take long for Kyuhyun to figure it out though. Suddenly his eyes widened and he turned his head around to where Jessica had last been seen before looking at Heechul again. “Jessica?” Kyuhyun whispered to make sure.
Why was the guy whispering? Aish; this kid was just too cute. “No, Sohee from the Wonder Girls,” Heechul answered sarcastically. “Of course Jessica!!”
Kyuhyun did that ‘look over the shoulder to see if Jessica had miraculously appeared’ thing again. “Really?!”
Aish. “Yes, really.”
“But…” Kyuhyun honestly seemed at a loss for words; the kid really had had no idea that she liked him. How could the guy not have known?! “How can you tell?”
How could he tell? … ‘Oh, let’s see,’ Heechul thought. ‘Maybe because she asked you over to her house, alone, to watch scary movies on a Friday night? Or it could be because she practically drools every time you’re around. Or maybe it’s the fact that she seemed to have taken up stalking again as a profession?! Gees, how could anyone NOT be able to tell?’
“I can tell,” was all Heechul actually said out loud.
Kyuhyun wasn’t positive that Heechul was right though. “But how do you-?”
“Kyuhyun! I can tell! The woman invited you over to her house on a Friday night to watch movies. Alone. Trust me on this; she likes you.”
Kyuhyun blinked. Then his eyes grew wide. “Oh.” … “Oh!” … “Oh!”
Wow, the kid really needed to learn a new word. “Yeah, okay then; my work here is done.” Heechul turned around; he was getting hungry. “See you later,” he waved behind his back as he left. Not that Kyuhyun saw him, or even realized that he was gone; the kid just kept repeating ‘oh’. Poor kid. Heechul felt for him, he really did; it was quite a terrifying realization to know that Jessica ‘the stalker’ liked you.
“What took you so long?” Hangeng asked when Heechul joined the rest of his friends for lunch.
“Oh, nothing…” Heechul smirked. Ke, ke, ke…
“I don’t believe you,” Yesung said. “That ‘nothing’ sounded an awful lot like a ‘something’. And what is up with that evil smirk? Ah, I get shivers just by looking at you.”
“Shut up leprechaun.”
“Yah! I am not a leprechaun!!”
“Kibum, what are you doing?” Lee Teuk asked, in the hopes of keeping Heechul and Yesung from arguing.
Kibum looked up to find everyone staring at him. ...Creepy. “Uh… nothing.”
“Liar,” Shindong accused in between bites of kimchi. “He’s texting.”
“Michelle?” Kangin guessed with a waggle of his eyebrows.
“So what?” Kibum glared at Shindong before lowering his head again and continuing to text. “We’re eight hours apart so this is one of the only times I can text her.”
“Tell her I say hi,” Donghae insisted.
“Me too,” Eunhyuk chimed in.
“Me three!” What? Heechul didn’t want to be left out, alright?!
Kibum shook his head, smiling. “Okay.”
“Yah! Tell her I say hi too,” Kangin said.
“Tell her we all say hi.” Ah, Lee Teuk; he was oh so wise in situations like this.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Kibum muttered. He was still smiling though.
“So, do you guys have detention again today?” Kangin asked the stooges.
“Nope,” Eunhyuk answered. “Well… not as of right now anyhow. Why?”
“Lee Teuk is ditching me this weekend. Do you guys want to see a movie?”
“Sure. Which movie do-?”
“Hey!” Lee Teuk interrupted. “I am not ‘ditching’ you; I’m going a trip with my father and you knew about this for three weeks!”
“Well it’s a stupid trip,” Kangin pouted. “You don’t even like fishing!”
“Well you don’t like ballet but you still go to watch your sisters’ recitals. And this is an annual father/son trip; I’m not cancelling.”
“I didn’t ask you to cancel; I merely asked the stooges if they wanted to see a movie.”
Lee Teuk crossed his arms over his chest. “Well you didn’t have to sound so sullen.”
“So…” Donghae looked between Kangin and Lee Teuk, judging whether or not it was okay to speak. “Which movie?”
Kangin shrugged and tore his eyes away from Lee Teuk. “That new action film was released, we could see that.”
“Count me in,” Eunhyuk said.
“I can’t go; I have a date with Soon-ok.” … Shindong frowned. “No… Soon-bok? … Soon-ei.”
“Soon-yi,” Kibum supplied, pocketing his cell phone. “And count me in as well.”
“Ah, right, Soon-yi…” Shindong remembered. “I should write that down…”
“I want to come,” Donghae threw in as Shindong shuffled through his bag for a pen.
“Okay great, so then that’s,” Kangin did a quick head count. “Four of us.”
“Hey, I want to come too.”
Kangin blinked. “Don’t you have plans with Ryeowook tonight?”
“Nope; he’s hanging out with Henry tonight.” Yesung didn’t exactly look thrilled about this. “But,” he brightened up, “we have a date tomorrow.”
“Okay,” Kangin said. “So then five of us.” He looked across to where Heechul and Hangeng were sitting. “Or should I make that seven?”
“I’m not going,” Heechul told them. Hangeng seemed on the fence. Wait. Really? Hangeng wasn’t usually interested in going out to the movies; not on a Friday anyhow as they tended to stay in. “You want to go,” Heechul said. It wasn’t a question.
“Um…” Hangeng seemed to be debating with himself. “No… No, that’s okay.”
“So… five then,” Kangin concluded.
Heechul poked Hangeng in the ribs while the others began discussing when and where they’d meet up later. “What was that?”
“What was what?”
“You know what,” Heechul accused. “Why do you want to go?”
“It’s nothing.”
“Hangeng, one way or another, I will get this information out of you,” Heechul threatened.
Hangeng gulped. “Okay, last weekend I went to the mall with Henry and I kind of… met a girl there. She seemed nice and she mentioned working part time at the theatre so I thought… But it’s stupid; I mean I don’t even know which theatre she works at or her schedule so-”
“Hangeng’s going with you guys,” Heechul cut of his friend to inform the others.
“What?!” Hangeng asked.
“You’re going with them,” Heechul repeated.
“Why?” Hangeng hissed. “I just told you-”
“All I heard was that you like a girl and she works at the theatre. So go and see if she’s there; it won’t kill you to take a chance every now and then.”
“But…”
“So, are you coming with us or not?” Eunhyuk asked.
“I’m…” Hangeng looked at Heechul’s stubborn face and sighed. “I’m coming with you guys.”
“Six,” Kangin announced.
“What about our Friday night thing?” Hangeng asked quietly once the others started talking again.
Heechul shrugged. “Siwon already ditched so… One week isn’t going to kill us.”
Hangeng smiled. “Maybe can move it to Saturday night this week?”
“Works for me.”
“Are you guys talking about me?” Siwon asked when he heard Heechul say his name.
“Maybe,” Heechul replied cheekily. “What are you going to do about it?”
Siwon smiled. “That depends… Was it good or bad?”
Lunch ended soon after that. English seemed to pass by in a blur; over before Heechul knew it. He didn’t mind though, because to him English = DOOM!
Chemistry on the other hand… Chemistry went by all too slowly for Heechul. He was sitting in the middle seat again now that he and Zhou Mi had made up and Zhou Mi’s hand was resting on his leg, making it increasingly difficult to concentrate. Was it him or was Zhou Mi’s hand resting a bit higher up on his thigh than it did normally? Seriously was not helping him concentrate. Nor was it helping with his ‘do not jump Zhou Mi in the middle of class’ rule.
Aish. The man was clearly trying to kill him. Heechul actually found himself praying for a surprise quiz. …It didn’t happen. Double aish! Zhou Mi clearly had no idea of the reaction he was causing by simply resting his hand on Heechul’s leg. Because if Zhou Mi knew, Heechul was sure the man would remove his hand.
Heechul needed to think of something else. He started paying attention to every boring minute detail their teacher started writing on the board. When that stopped working he started focusing on their teacher himself. When did the man start growing a mustache? Ew. Not a smart decision.
This worked for a while; until Zhou Mi moved his hand slightly and then Heechul had to find something else distracting. Distracting, distracting, distracting… Zhou Mi’s warm hand… NO! Go back to distracting! Look at the board! Yes, the board can be distracting. This wasn’t working. ‘Shut up; yes it is!’
Aish! Now he was yelling at himself.
Heechul really wanted the class to be over.
Eventually, Heechul got his wish. That had to have been the longest Chemistry lesson he had to sit through though. Seriously, was time trying to punish him? Was this payback for English going by so quickly? Arg. Never mind; he was out (Free!!) now, and that was all that mattered.
History and Gym went by quickly, just like English had. Lucifer must have been in a good mood too because all they had to do was run laps. ‘Yay!’
Before Heechul realized it, he was standing by the front gate with his friends; excluding Shindong who had already left for his date and Lee Teuk who headed home straight away to get ready for his fishing trip. Mental chuckle; Lee Teuk and fishing just did not seem to go together.
“Heechul.”
Heechul turned around and narrowed his eyes in challenge. “Sungmin.”
And… STARE DOWN!!!
Heechul would not lose… He would not. … He would win! Damn; when did Sungmin get good at staring? No matter, Heechul would still win; because he was Kim Heechul. And Kim Heechul did not lose at… Oh look, Sungmin smiled. Yes!!! STILL undefeated champion!! Muahahaha!!!! Nice try Sungmin… Nice try. Heechul smirked as he mentally threw his arms up in victory.
Only after the stare down ended did Heechul realize that Zhou Mi, Ryeowook, Henry, and Kyuhyun had arrived with Sungmin. Zhou Mi instantly slid up to his side once he was finished kicking Sungmin’s ass, metaphorically, at Stare Downing. Ke, ke, ke…
“Hey,” Zhou Mi smiled.
“Hey.”
“Uh, Jessica!”
Heechul turned to see Kyuhyun waving over Jessica and Stacy. And what did they have here? Hm?
“Yeah?” Jessica asked.
“Uh… I was thinking… Maybe I could walk you home and we could just order something to eat before starting the movies.”
Jessica blinked. “What? Really?”
“Yeah… I mean, I’m coming over anyhow so it really doesn’t make any difference whether I eat with you or at home,” Kyuhyun shrugged. The kid was trying for nonchalance; in Heechul’s opinion he had failed miserably, though nobody else seemed to notice… Oh wait, Sungmin was trying hard not to laugh so someone else had noticed.
“O-okay,” Jessica said quickly, almost not believing her luck. “Should we go then?”
“Sure.” Kyuhyun waved goodbye to the others awkwardly as he left with Jessica. ‘Awkward’ because he had started to blush and didn’t want them to notice; which they did.
“Okay…” Yesung began. “What was that?”
“I think we may have entered some weird alternate universe,” Henry answered, completely straight faced. “One where Kyuhyun blushes.”
Sungmin wasn’t able to hold in his laughter after that. “Sorry,” he laughed. “Siwon, should we go?”
“Sure…” Siwon said, slightly baffled as to why his boyfriend was almost doubled over laughing.
“We should head off as well,” Ryeowook said.
“Okay,” Henry agreed. “See you later Hangeng.”
“We’re still on for tomorrow, right?” Ryeowook asked, pausing as he passed Yesung.
“Yeah,” Yesung smiled.
“Good; just checking.” He gave Yesung a brief kiss on the cheek before turning a bright crimson and following Henry.
Oh would you look at that? Tomato Ewok has returned!!! Seriously though; what was up with all of the blushing? Even Yesung was starting to pinken. Though, this was probably more because Kangin was teasing him mercilessly and less because of the kiss.
They all kind of split up and went their separate directions after that. Zhou Mi was again full of excitement. Heechul still didn’t understand why. “Zhou Mi, you’re going to bounce my arm off.”
Zhou Mi stopped bouncing. “Sorry,” he smiled sheepishly. “I’m just nervous.”
Nervous? Why would Zhou Mi be nervous? “You’ve already met my mother before,” Heechul reminded him.
“But I’ve never met her as your boyfriend.”
Heechul rolled his eyes. “What are you talking about? Of course you have. The last time you saw her you were my boyfriend, therefore you’ve met her as my boyfriend.”
“Yes,” Zhou Mi agreed. “But she didn’t know that I was your boyfriend then. So really, this will be the first time.”
“Whatever,” Heechul gave up trying to understand just what it was Zhou Mi was talking about. It didn’t make sense to him; he still stuck with the idea that Zhou Mi had already met his mother as his boyfriend, whether she knew it or not, and so the other shouldn’t be nervous.
“What if she doesn’t like me?”
Heechul looked at the man next to him in disbelief. “What are you talking about? She already likes you,” he laughed.
“She liked me as your friend, but I mean as a boyfriend,” Zhou Mi said, as if this should be obvious. “And stop laughing; this isn’t funny!”
Heechul had to disagree with that. “Zhou Mi, she likes you; now stop worrying.” Heechul sighed when Zhou Mi ignored his command and started to bite his bottom lip. Cute. He threw his arm around the other’s shoulders. “What am I going to do with you?”
“Mom; we’re here!” Heechul announced as he tossed his school bag down.
“I’m in the kitchen!”
Heechul frowned. “Why?” He asked even as he started towards the room. “It has to be too early to start dinner…” Apparently not. His eyes widened. “What the…?”
His mother turned around and smiled. “Hi Heechul!” The counter and table were covered with what looked like the after mass of a great food war. What the heck was his mother doing in there?! “Where’s Zhou Mi?”
Her question snapped Heechul out of his thoughts. “What do you mean? He’s right here…” Heechul turned his head only to realize that, no, Zhou Mi was not next to him. Okay… Where had Zhou Mi gone? “Uh… one second.” Heechul left the kitchen and found his boyfriend still standing next to the door. “What are you doing?” He smiled; it came out more of a smirk.
“I don’t know,” Zhou Mi answered uncertainly.
Heechul laughed. “Come on.” Aish. Why was his boyfriend so cute? Not that he was complaining. Heechul reentered the kitchen, this time with Zhou Mi. He coughed.
His mother turned away from the cookbook she was trying to make sense of and smiled. “Hi Zhou Mi,” she greeted.
“Hello,” Zhou Mi bowed slightly.
“I’d shake your hand but… well…” She held up her messy fingers.
Zhou Mi smiled. “It’s okay. Uh… what are you making?”
She looked around at the mess she had created. “I don’t know… I was trying to… How did I get sauce on the ceiling…?”
Zhou Mi and Heechul both looked up. Yep; there was most definitely sauce on the ceiling. Heechul chuckled. His mother was not an extravagant chef. And he was pretty sure she wouldn’t go to so much trouble just because his boyfriend was coming over. Which meant…
“What time is Mr. Park coming over?”
“What?” She stopped staring at the orange spot above her head and blinked. Then she smiled guiltily. “Um, yeah well… He called and asked for a date but I told him I was having you and Zhou Mi over and so… It’s okay that I asked him over too. Right?”
Heechul laughed. “As long as you don’t plan on serving us that,” Heechul pointed to the messy brown slop behind her; he didn’t even want to know what it was supposed to be.
She turned around and frowned. “No… Well, it wasn’t supposed to come out like that. I don’t know what I did wrong.” She closed the book behind her and sighed. “Stupid cookbook. Ah, well, I’ll just make a salad and we can order in.”
Heechul shook his head. “Sorry about this,” he turned to Zhou Mi to find the other one smiling, already over his nerves.
“Do you need help cleaning up?” Zhou Mi offered.
She accepted the help gratefully and ten minutes later Heechul found himself wiping down counter tops. He frowned; he didn’t remember offering any help. Oh well. He turned his head and watched Zhou Mi smiling as he washed dishes. Just what was so interesting about dishes? Personally, Heechul hated dishes; there was nothing to smile about while doing them in his opinion.
Heechul jumped when he felt his mother hug him from behind. Where had she come from?! Was everyone a ninja? Aish. “I’m keeping him,” she said decidedly. “If you break up with him, you’re out and I’m adopting him.”
“Yah! You would disown your own son?” He teased, knowing she wasn’t serious. Zhou Mi looked over at them at chuckled, having heard the conversation.
“My son doesn’t do the dishes without complaint. So… yeah.”
“Aish…” Heechul sighed, narrowing his eyes at Zhou Mi in mock anger. “Look what you did. Stop being so nice to my mother; you’re making me look bad.”
Zhou Mi laughed. “Maybe you should just start doing the dishes without complaining?”
Heechul’s eyes narrowed further. “Not funny.”
Fifteen minutes after that and the kitchen was no longer covered in unrecognizable goop. Even the strange orange sauce that was on the ceiling was gone. Heechul’s mother had finished making her salad and was currently upstairs changing into something that wasn’t covered with cooking splashes. She had assigned Heechul and Zhou Mi the task of picking out what to eat for dinner and ordering it. This is why the two of them were currently shifting through the drawer of seemingly endless take out menus Heechul and his mother have acquired throughout the years.
“What about this place?”
Heechul looked at the yellow menu Zhou Mi was holding. “Nah, that place isn’t very good.”
“Then why did you keep the menu?”
“They do good desserts… Oh this might be good?”
“Mm… that place looks okay to me,” Zhou Mi agreed, leaning over Heechul’s shoulder to see better. “What should we order?”
Heechul turned his head to suggest something and his mind went blank. “What?” Hey, this was not Heechul’s fault. If he had known that Zhou Mi’s face was so close to his own he wouldn’t have turned. Okay, so maybe he would have; but he would have been prepared to answer better, and he could have put in a more valiant effort to ignore the other’s lips so close to his own.
Heechul looked away from Zhou Mi’s lips only to make eye contact with the man’s expressive brown eyes. The man’s ‘expressive brown eyes’ which seemed to darken and probably held the same look as Heechul’s right then. Heechul gulped; his mouth was suddenly very dry.
He shouldn’t kiss Zhou Mi here, now, when his mother could walk in on them at any moment. He shouldn’t…! So then why wasn’t he moving away? He should look back at the menu. He should definitely stop leaning forward!
Knock, knock, knock!
Heechul blinked and took a step sideways. Damn door.
“I should get that,” he said; his voice coming out rougher than he had intended.
Zhou Mi nodded. “Yeah…”
Heechul cleared his throat and put the menu he still held back in the drawer before making his way out of the kitchen. He opened the door to see a grinning Park Myeong-su and two large pizza boxes. “…Hi.”
“Hey! Sorry, I’m early. But I come bearing pizza!”
“That sounds good to me,” Heechul said helping to relieve the man of his fragrant packages. “I’ll tell my mother you’re here.”
“No need,” his mother spoke from behind him. “I already know.”
“Hey,” Park Myeong-su repeated with a goofy smile on his face as he looked at a spot over Heechul’s shoulder.
Heechul turned around to see his mother wearing an almost identical goofy grin. Heechul rolled his eyes and smirked before taking the pizza boxes into the kitchen and setting them down on the table next to the salad.
Heechul’s mother and Park Myeong-su followed him into the kitchen. “Hi,” Park Myeong-su held his hand out to Zhou Mi. “I don’t believe we’ve met. I’m Park Myeong-su, but you can call me PMS.”
“Uh… Hi,” Zhou Mi reached out to shake the man’s hand. “I’m Zhou Mi.”
Heechul went to get plates down from the cupboard. Did Mr. Park know about him and Zhou Mi? Should he tell him or did his mother already explain…? “Mr. Park, Zhou Mi’s my boyfriend,” Heechul told him. Better sooner than later. He expected the man to be a little surprised, at the least. He expected the man to blink a few times and maybe utter a very Kyuhyun-ish ‘oh’.
“How many times do I have to tell you to call me PMS?” Heechul blinked. Had the man heard what he just said? “At least call me Myeong-su. Mr. Park sounds too stuffy and formal; calling me that makes me feel old.”
Heechul decided that his mother must have already informed Myeong-su about him and Zhou Mi. Heechul grinned. “Sorry. Myeong-su then.” There was no way Heechul was calling the man ‘PMS’.
“Ah, much better; I already feel ten years younger.”
Heechul shook his head and set the plates down.
Dinner was interesting. Heechul’s mother had them all eat at the table, which felt odd for a Friday night when they were eating pizza.
Heechul had been worried that Zhou Mi would become nervous again around his mother’s boyfriend. But Zhou Mi didn’t seem nervous at all. He seemed to be having a good time; he was smiling a lot at least. That was a good sign, right?
Then again, why would Zhou Mi have been nervous around Myeong-su? The man wasn’t very intimidating. He spent most of dinner telling jokes or pouting when Heechul’s mother ignored him to talk to Zhou Mi. If anything, Heechul was the nervous one. Why was his mother talking to Zhou Mi so much? And was it really necessary to bring up his elementary school talent show?! No. It wasn’t. Aish. His mother was driving him crazy.
“Mom,” Heechul interrupted with a pointed look when he sensed another ‘unnecessary’ story about to be told. “Zhou Mi really doesn’t need to hear about that.”
She smiled. “Okay then, I’ll just save the story for another day, huh?”
Mental head slap. Aish. Heechul looked across the table at ‘PMS’ and smirked. “Myeong-su, have you ever seen orange sauce on the ceiling?”
Myeong-su blinked. “No… I don’t believe I have.”
“Well,” Heechul leaned forward. “Interesting story: my mother-”
“Okay! I think we’re about done with dinner. Don’t you?” Heechul’s mom cut off as she stood to clear the table. Myeong-su and Zhou Mi blinked as Heechul’s smirk widened.
After the dishes were cleaned and the trash was taken out, Zhou Mi announced that he should be heading home. “I don’t want to get back too late because it’s just my sister and I at home tonight.”
“Heechul, why don’t you walk him home on your way to Hangeng’s?” His mother suggested.
Heechul was already planning on walking Zhou Mi home but he nodded anyhow. “I’m not going over to Hangeng’s tonight.”
“Oh, is it Siwon’s house this week? I thought you were there last week…”
Heechul shook his head; it amused him that his mother knew his Friday night schedule better than he did sometimes. “I’m not going over to Siwon’s either; I don’t have plans. Hangeng is going to the movies and Siwon has practice.”
His mother blinked. “You’re… staying here?”
Heechul gave her an odd look. “Yeah…” He did live there. Why did she suddenly look like…? Wait. Ew. New thought. Was his mother planning on his being out of the house so that she and her boyfriend could…? EW! No. Stop thinking Heechul!! It was probably not what he was thinking about anyhow.
… But what if it was? Ew. No. Not an option.
“Are you sure you don’t have plans?”
Ew, ew, ew!!
‘No. Heechul, calm down. Remember what happened when you assumed things at Yesung’s house? How wrong had you been then? Huh? Exactly. So it’s probably nothing like what you think. They probably just want to be alone to… have a glass of wine and talk. Yeah. Older people did that. Take a deep breath, and calm down.’
Heechul took a deep breath. Yeah, it probably wasn’t what he had thought… But still, what if…? No. He was not even going to think of that as a possibility.
“Heechul?”
Heechul blinked. His mother was staring at him funny. Oh, he should probably answer her. What had the question been again? … Oh right.
“Yeah, I don’t have any plans. But uh… maybe I could call Hangeng and see what time the movie is?” He offered.
“You could stay at my house.”
Heechul turned around and blinked. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” Zhou Mi smiled. “If your mother is okay with it. I mean, it’s just me and my sister and I know she’d be fine with it.”
“I’m fine with it too,” Heechul’s mother smiled. “In fact, I think it’s a great idea. Go pack.”
Heechul gave her an odd look before heading up stares to grab a change of clothes and his toothbrush. His mother seemed like she couldn’t get rid of him fast enough. He chuckled. Then he thought about why it might be she wanted him out of the house again, and all chuckling came to an abrupt end.
He came down stairs scowling slightly. Park Myeong-su, if that was his real name, gave Heechul a cheerful goodbye as he was about to step out of the house. Heechul paused long enough to give the man a glare that clearly said, ‘if you touch my mother I will hunt you down’. Park Myeong-su’s smile faltered. ‘Yeah, be afraid… be very afraid…’ Heechul silently threatened as he shut the door behind him and joined Zhou Mi outside.
“Ready?” Zhou Mi smiled.
Heechul held up his bag. “Ready.”
“Heechul!”
A very hyper, young, female was currently staring at him in the front entrance of Zhou Mi’s house. Heechul waved. “Hi.” He wondered briefly if he should keep still. You know, avoid all sudden movements?
“Hi…” the dazed female mimicked before she shook her head and seemed to snap out of the trance. “Um… Zhou Mi didn’t tell me you were coming over.” Here she sent a glare to her older brother, as if to say, ‘how dare you not tell me when I am going to be in the presence of hot men’!
Wait. Heechul just understood everything she said!! Did he somehow mysteriously master Chinese? That would be so cool…
“I didn’t know he was coming over,” Zhou Mi defended.
“You could have called me on the way though! I mean, some notice would have been nice!”
Nope; Heechul was no master at Mandarin. He realized sadly that she was speaking Korean. And that she was also better at the language then Zhou Mi. What was up with this? Why wasn’t Zhou Mi as good as her?! That’s it, Heechul was giving the man Korean lessons.
“Sorry,” Zhou Mi laughed as he walked around her. “I didn’t think about it.”
She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. “Obviously.” Then she pouted. “This is so unfair.”
Heechul was a little surprised. He knew he was amazing and she would want to spend time with him, (because who wouldn’t?), but what was up with the pout? Shouldn’t she get over it? What was done was done, yes? “I’m here now,” he said. “Do you want to watch a movie?”
She just pouted some more. “I’d love to but I can’t.”
“What do you mean?” Zhou Mi asked from behind her.
She frowned and pointed to her ballet bag, which, Heechul now noticed, was leaning against the wall. “I just made plans with Choon-Hee to spend the night…” She sighed. Ah… the pout made sense now. “If you had told me Heechul would be here I wouldn’t have! But I thought it would just be me and you, and I wanted to actually have fun tonight.”
Heechul tried to turn his snort into a cough. It didn’t really work.
“Hey! I’m fun!” Zhou Mi insisted.
She rolled her eyes. Before Zhou Mi or she could say anything else though a knock fell upon the door behind Heechul (who jumped slightly). “That’s Choon-Hee,” Bao-Zhai said as she reached for her bag. “So not fair,” Heechul heard her mutter as she walked past him. He was surprised to see her suddenly smirk though when she reached the door, before turning back around and saying something which he did not understand in the least. Oh, probably Mandarin. Darn. He really needed to learn that language… Bao-Zhai waved her fingers before shutting the door. And suddenly Heechul and Zhou Mi were alone.
Heechul turned around to see the other man blushing. “What did she just-?”
Zhou Mi shook his head and went towards the living room. Heechul frowned. Yep; he definitely needed to learn Mandarin.
After their second movie, Zhou Mi suggested they go to sleep. ‘Fine,’ Heechul thought, just as long as he didn’t have to move. Zhou Mi and he were both sitting, legs stretched out on the couch, Heechul in front of the other. Heechul decided he was too comfortable to even think of moving.
“Heechul?” Zhou Mi asked after he got no response to his suggestion.
“I don’t want to move,” Heechul said as he leaned back further into the other’s chest.
“Well we can’t sleep here,” Zhou Mi stated. “… Why does it feel like I’ve said that before? ”
Heechul grinned. “Because you have,” he pointed out. “The last time I came over.”
“Oh…” Zhou Mi smiled. “Well… I was right then and I’m right now, so move.” Heechul ignored his command. Zhou Mi sighed. A minute passed by before Zhou Mi tried again. “Heechul?”
“Hm…?” Heechul turned his head and stopped. Once again, for the second time that night he found himself without warning, in dangerously close proximity to Zhou Mi’s ‘oh so kissable’ lips. And this time, there was no Park Myeong-su to knock on the front door, nor was there a mother in the house, to stop Heechul from leaning just that little bit forward and tasting those sweet lips with his own. Which was exactly what he did.
Heechul heard someone moan but he couldn’t tell if the sound had come from Zhou Mi or himself. He didn’t exactly care either. He twisted his body until he was facing the man; this was a much better position in his opinion. He grabbed Zhou Mi’s shoulders and pressed the other one further into the couch’s cushions as he gained entrance into the wonder that was Zhou Mi’s mouth.
Damn. Kissing Zhou Mi was such a heady experience; Heechul was becoming slightly dizzy from lack of oxygen. But he didn’t quite want to stop yet. He would… just not yet.
Heechul shivered with pleasure when he felt Zhou Mi’s hands slid down to his backside. He finally pulled back from the kiss before he blacked out and began ghosting his lips across Zhou Mi’s neck, stopping at the collar bone.
Zhou Mi made a slight choking sound. “Heechul,” he managed to get out. Heechul hummed against his skin to show that he was listening. “You should probably stop… now…” He said even as he moved his neck back to give Heechul more access.
“Why?” Heechul asked.
Heechul’s voice came out breathy, which did nothing to help Zhou Mi’s… problem just then. “Because… I-” Zhou Mi groaned, partially in frustration, when Heechul slid his body downwards an inch to assault a fresh bit of his skin. “Heechul, if you don’t stop, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to.” How he managed to get all of those words out, and in proper order too, while Heechul was slowly destroying his brain cells was beyond him.
Heechul stopped all movement. Then he blinked. Did he just hear what he thought he had just heard? He blinked again. He felt Zhou Mi exhale and raised himself up a little to look at his boyfriend’s face. Zhou Mi’s eyes were closed as he tried to control his urges; not an easy thing to do when Heechul was still lying on top of him. Because Zhou Mi’s eyes were closed and the man couldn’t see, Heechul allowed himself to smile softly. He was kind of irritated for being stopped, but at the same time it was a sweet thing for Zhou Mi to do. Heechul leaned down and briefly kissed Zhou Mi’s lips before he rolled himself off of the man. He smiled as he held out his hand to help the other up.
“You go on ahead,” Zhou Mi chuckled. “I don’t know if I can move yet.”
Heechul smirked. “Okay then.”
By the time Heechul got out of the bathroom, dressed in his ‘oh so lovely’ pajamas with his teeth brushed and his face washed, Zhou Mi was ready and waiting for him. … Did he really take that long to get ready? Heechul wondered about this for a second before he decided that he didn’t care and simply stared at Zhou Mi’s bare chest. Aish; he had forgotten that the man slept shirtless. How could he have forgotten?!
Heechul gulped when Zhou Mi looked at him with dark chocolate eyes. Gosh, it was getting harder to resist this sexy man that was his boyfriend. … ‘Gosh’? Where had that come from? … Aish; it didn’t matter. He watched as Zhou Mi got into bed and waited for him to do the same so that he could turn off the light.
Heechul didn’t start towards the bed right away; he rather liked the image of Zhou Mi in the bed waiting for him. … He liked it a lot. Wait. What was he thinking?! He shouldn’t be thinking that; it would only lead to other bad thoughts, which could lead to actions, which could lead to… Yeah, he should stop thinking about this now. He started towards the bed, not meeting Zhou Mi’s gaze. Why? Because, what if, for some reason, Zhou Mi could sense exactly what he was thinking from the eye contact? Yes, exactly his point; so he avoided eye contact.
Heechul waited for the light to turn off before he relaxed. He stared around the room. Everything looked different, cast in shadows of varying shades of blue and black. He took a deep breath. Okay, this was okay. It would be just like last time… Maybe they would cuddle again? He hoped so; he liked the thought of Zhou Mi’s arms around him. Wait. Dangerous thinking again. Heechul turned onto his side to tell Zhou Mi goodnight. Not a good idea; he forgot what he was going to say when he saw the man, half hidden in shadow. He realized faintly that this had been happening a lot lately; his forgetting things when Zhou Mi was around.
Zhou Mi looked at him expectantly and Heechul gulped. Why was his throat so dry? “I um…” He couldn’t hear himself speak; his heart was beating too hard in his chest, the blood rushing too loudly in his ears. “Um…” When did it suddenly get so stiflingly warm? Maybe Heechul shouldn’t sleep with the covers over him. “I wanted to…” He wanted to finish what they had started down stairs he realized. No. Wait. Yes. Crap. “Say goodnight.” Wow, it had taken far too long to get that sentence out.
Zhou Mi smiled, his eyes sparkling black in the darkness. “Goodnight,” he said, his voice washed across Heechul’s skin, making him shiver.
That’s it.
Heechul leaned forward and kissed the man. Zhou Mi’s breath caught a little in surprise but he soon melted into the lip-lock. Heechul groaned. Zhou Mi tasted of mint from his toothpaste and Heechul couldn’t get enough. He wanted more. He pushed himself forward until he was right against the man, his hands caressing upwards against Zhou Mi’s warm chest.
Zhou Mi moaned this time and Heechul became mesmerized by the sound. He needed to hear it again. As he set about trying to make Zhou Mi repeat the noise that made his head light, (or maybe his head was light because of the kiss. Most likely it was both.), his body pressed forward more eagerly, trying to get closer. Though that seemed impossible, as they were already almost flush against each other, he still tried. He wanted to feel more of Zhou Mi, wanted to make him moan in pleasure again and again, wanted to explore his entire body until he knew it by heart. And then he wanted to do it all over again.
Heechul smirked confidently when Zhou Mi repeated that spellbinding moan of his. He started to slide his hands back down Zhou Mi’s chest when the other suddenly pushed them apart.
“Heechul,” he gasped. “You need to stop.” Heechul grinned and leaned forward again. “Please,” Zhou Mi requested as he tried to keep the small distance he had managed to create between them intact.
“I don’t want to stop,” Heechul whispered. His voice was way too rough; he wondered if Zhou Mi even understood him. Oh, apparently… Heechul grinned when Zhou Mi removed the hands from his shoulders and he was able to move closer. Zhou Mi seemed in a slight state of shock when Heechul started to kiss him again.
Zhou Mi pulled backward out of the kiss, making Heechul groan in frustration. “Are you sure?”
Of course Heechul was sure! Otherwise he wouldn’t have said it! “Yes.” He leaned forward again only to be blocked by Zhou Mi’s damn hands on his shoulders again. Aish! He thought that Zhou Mi wanted this.
“Really, really sure?” Zhou Mi asked. His eyes were slightly wide; he thought that he might be dreaming because things this good didn’t just happen, did they?
“Zhou Mi,” Heechul said very clearly. “I’m sure,” he enunciated every word precisely so that the other would finally get it through his head that he was being serious. “I want this.” Zhou Mi blinked. “And if you keep holding me back and don’t kiss me I’m going to be very, very irritated.” Zhou Mi blinked again before he broke out into an enormous smile and pulled Heechul against him.
‘Finally!’ Heechul’s mind shouted as he slowly melted and allowed himself to be kissed senseless. Zhou Mi broke the kiss briefly and Heechul almost growled, but luckily Zhou Mi kissed him again before he could do so. Wait. Something was different. Heechul blinked and broke the kiss. “You turned the light on.” That was what was different; he could see everything better now.
“I did,” Zhou Mi agreed as he tried to capture the other’s lips again.
“Why?” Heechul asked confused as he dodged Zhou Mi’s attempt to kiss him.
Zhou Mi chuckled and pulled back to smile at Heechul’s perplexed expression. “Because,” he answered leaning in again. “I want to be able to see you.”
‘Oh,’ Heechul thought as he smiled into the kiss. This kiss was slower than the others had been. And that warm bubbly feeling was back, Heechul realized. He pressed himself forward and began to deepen the kiss.
He moaned as Zhou Mi’s hands started to wander along his body, massaging every inch of skin they touched. Thankfully, there was no annoying Lee Teuk voice in the back of his head to protest this time; actually, there were really no voices to protest this time. Heck, Heechul had a hard time thinking of anything coherent other then how good this felt as Zhou Mi touched him.
Zhou Mi pulled back again slightly and Heechul began attacking the man’s neck with kisses. A few moments later, he realized that he was shirtless when he felt Zhou Mi’s bare chest touch his own and his skin seemed to burst into flames. Where had his shirt gone? Oh who cared? He gasped and let his head fall back when Zhou Mi found that one sensitive spot beneath his ear.
He couldn’t take this sweet torture much longer; it was like the more passionate their kisses became and the more Zhou Mi touched him, and he touched Zhou Mi, his blood seemed to hum louder with need. Apparently Zhou Mi couldn’t stand this sweet torture much longer either, because he pulled back slightly and whispered a quick question into Heechul’s ear. Not that Heechul heard him, because his brain was having a little trouble functioning. “Huh?” Heechul asked.
“Top or bottom?” Zhou Mi repeated before he started kissed his way down Heechul’s chest and … Wait. What did he ask? Heechul blinked and tried to concentrate; which was proving to be a very difficult task. He couldn’t quite seem to grasp the fact that Zhou Mi was giving him a choice in the matter. That was so sweet… He smiled. Then he moaned as Zhou Mi reached his belly button and he realized that he really, really loved how Zhou Mi used his tongue. “Heechul, if you don’t make a decision soon, I’m going to make it for you,” Zhou Mi growled. This should have prompted Heechul to think faster but all Heechul thought was: sexy. Wait. No. He should be thinking. Okay, so obviously he should say ‘top’, right? But… The fact that Zhou Mi even gave him the option was messing with his brain. He should be ‘top’ because he was a guy… But then so was Zhou Mi. And if he was going to be perfectly honest with himself he didn’t really seem to care right then. Not with Zhou Mi doing things that turned his thoughts in circles and made his toes curl in ecstasy. If this was what being a ‘bottom’ felt like, maybe it wasn’t so bad? … Great, now he was curious; and Kim Heechul ‘curious’ was never a good thing. … No, he should definitely say ‘top’. Okay then. “Heechul,” Zhou Mi growled out another warning.
“I don’t care,” Heechul managed to gasp. Wow; he wasn’t supposed to say that. It was Zhou Mi’s fault for making it so hard for his brain and mouth to cooperate.
“That’s not a decision,” Zhou Mi chuckled gruffly as he moved back up to kiss Heechul’s lips. No, Heechul agreed, it wasn’t. But how was he supposed to make a decision when he couldn’t think?! “I need a decision,” Zhou Mi whispered against his cheek. “You have five seconds to decide before I make the choice for you.”
One would think this was an easy choice; but nothing was easy when Zhou Mi was kissing you and thinking was involved. The second Zhou Mi released his lips Heechul whispered his decision without thinking; not that he was thinking before that; like before mentioned, thinking was a very difficult thing to do while being kissed by Zhou Mi. And once the choice had been said it was too late to change it.
Not that he really regretted it…
Heechul’s heart slowly picked up a normal rhythm as his breathing began to steady. Damn. Definitely didn’t regret his decision. He closed his eyes and tried to speak. Nope; wasn’t working. Damn. “Wow.” He heard Zhou Mi breathe out next to him. Heechul nodded, still not able to form words. If he could form words though, that was probably exactly what he would have said; that or ‘damn’. Because… Damn.
Zhou Mi chuckled when he saw Heechul nod. He wanted to roll back on top of the man and kiss him but he didn’t think he had enough energy to do so. Instead he found Heechul’s hand and brought it up to his lips.
Heechul was the one chuckling at that. He also seemed to finally be able to speak. “Damn.” Yep.
Zhou Mi laughed. “My sentiments exactly.” They both stared up at the ceiling for a beat as their heart rates continued to slow. “That thing you did… with your back? … I didn’t realize you were that flexible.”
“Hell,” Heechul replied. “I didn’t even know I was that flexible.” They both laughed quietly. “I blame you.”
Zhou Mi grinned at that and turned his head sideways. “It’s late…”
“Yeah…” Heechul agreed, stifling a yawn.
Zhou Mi sat up to pull the blankets up, which had bunched down at the bottom of the bed. Once the blankets were back in their proper position he turned to Heechul and stifled a laugh when he realized the other man was already asleep. He threw an arm around his sleeping boyfriend and closed his eyes, drifting off almost immediately.
Heechul woke up the next morning feeling very warm and comfortable, if slightly sore. Wait. … The memories of last night came back to him and he opened his eyes slowly to see Zhou Mi already awake and smiling at him. Heechul smiled back and snuggled closer. He liked this position; definitely one of his favorites he decided as he felt Zhou Mi’s chest vibrate with laughter.
“Good morning,” Zhou Mi said.
“Mm… morning,” Heechul said, still groggy. “What time is it?”
Zhou Mi turned his head for a moment before replying. “Eleven.”
Heechul groaned. “Too early.”
Zhou Mi chuckled again. “Do you want breakfast?”
“I want to sleep,” Heechul answered. Sleep was not coming back to him though. Damn it. He blamed Zhou Mi. He gave up on sleep, sat up, and leaned over the man. “What do you have for breakfast?” He asked.
Zhou Mi stretched. “I don’t know; we’ll have to go look.” Then he smiled and Heechul’s heart flipped. Aish. Wasn’t it too early in the morning for his heart to be flipping? … Apparently not. “I’ll race you to the kitchen,” Zhou Mi challenged.
Heechul smirked. He suddenly wasn’t so hungry… for food. He leaned forward and kissed Zhou Mi softly. Melting into the deed despite the fact that Zhou Mi made his heart act funny. Or maybe, truthfully, because of it. Because his heart did wild flips, hops, and palpitations from a mere smile. And because his stomach tied itself in knots, his insides grew warm, and he sometimes forgot how to breathe. Who needed to breathe anyway? Not him; not if it meant he could keep feeling this way forever.
Because he knew:
This was love. This was Zhou Mi. And this was one heart problem Heechul was willing to live with.
