Dead Men Run- The Second Wave

Feb 24, 2005 16:21

General Dyne lowered his gun. The smoke rolled out of the barrels like entwining snakes. As it passed by General Dyne's face, his smile cut through the smoke like a gleaming knife. He spoke in his loud, low, rough voice which echoed like an avalanche. "Di damoregg vien schwienza-schmak din guzye. Vien dak mortag freizans!" With that the remaining Hassken army laughed. Guy who was still on the battlefield with Zin asked what he said. Zin's eyes went from blue to yellow, his eyes tensing in anger. Zin thought to Guy " He said he loves the smell of gunsmoke in the morning, it smells like dead freaks."

Guy turned to get a good look at General Dyne. He thought back to Zin "How hard is it to kill this guy."

Zin thought back " He is mortal and thats all that matters!" without a thought of delay he ran back into the field of battle with his legion of shadow right behind him. Guy swallowed every last once of courage and energy he had. It takes a lot for a man to do something he knows is suicide, but there are some things you just have to do.

Zin and Guy stayed back in the ranks, shredding through the remains of the Hassken army. The rest of Zin's men tried to slide through the Hasskens to get to General Dyne. General Dyne took his huge sword that rested on his shoulder and swung the mighty blade as if a tree trunk were crushing ants. Most of the men stood down and began to retreat. Zin saw this and his anger grew. He stopped his reign of terror on the Hassken troops and decided to go straight for General Dyne. When Zin got close enough he hurled a knife, which slid deeply into Dyne's collar bone.

Before Dyne could reach for the knife, Zin had jumped on his chest like a derranged ape and started stabbig frantically at General Dyne's neck and shoulders. General Dyne slowly dropped his sword and grabbed Zin by back of his neck. General Dyne was wearing just about as much armor as every one else which made him a walking tank. With Zin in his grasp he rammed his metal clad head into Zin's. Then proceeded to smash his body over and over again into his own solid, metal clad hide. He slammed and slammed him until Zin's flails of pain stopped.

Laughing, General Dyne threw Zin's body with one arm as if Zin was nothing more than a rag doll that was in his way. General Dyne's laugh grew louder as he slapped the rotary on his gatling gun. With a wirr, the barrels started spining, then fire spit out like a snakes tongue. The ground kicked up as the bullets hit. Guy saw the trail leading towards Zin. Guy ran and picked him up, threw him over his shoulders and ran like a soldier from the fire fight.

General Dyne, still laughing, trailed Guy like a wolf on the kill. His bullets knashing behind him. Just then Dyne's gun stopped wirring and began to slowly stop spinning. The gun sizzled and smoked, steam rose form the barrels. General Dyne's smile sank from one of manic delight to that of a let down child's face. The gun had over heat and didn't had enough in it to slaughter his enemy. "Tch,...dane," General Dyne grit his teeth and slowly headed back for the Metropolis.

Guy walked slowly over to the remainder of the shadow army and Sheel with Zin draped over his shoulders. Trent looked on in worry. Guy walked over to Sheel with Zin's body and slowly placed him down. Zin's face was dripping blood, his arm was dangling in the wrong direction, and his chest was broken and soft.

Sheel slowly walk up to it and his eyes turned blue. Guy was panting, kneeling on the ground next to Zin. Trent thought to Sheel, "Is he allright."

Sheel shook his head and thought "No, but for some reason he is alive. He will heal with time. But he cannot go into the second wave on the city."

Guy grew angery. " Whattya mean a second wave?! Did you see that monster! If this planet doesn't kill us then that freak will! Our plan isn't going to work as well as we thought it would we need to do something else!"

Sheel looked confused. Trent sighed and thought to Sheel. "So Zin is alive. Thats good but what are we going to do for the second wave?"

Sheel pondered then thought " We will regroup and wait for some hours. Make them think we gave up and went home. Then we will go into the city now that the defences have gone down a notch they wont be as able to take care of us. Then when we have a good hold on the city Trent, Guy and a small unit will march to the head quarters. Dyne, Shuezo and Potemkat might be an issue, but its an issue we will have to deal with. We are so close, now is not the time to weaken in resolve."

Guy stood up, turned and stared at the metropolis. Trent walked over beside Guy. " How are you feeling?"

Guy sighed and dropped his head " I dunno. I know we need to push on but...I just don't know."

Trent put an arm on Guy's shoulder trying to comfort. " We'll get through this. We will becuase we have no choice. I'm sure this thing will work out ok. It has too, I mean whats the worse thing that could happen, we die. That aint too bad, I mean its gonna happen one way or another, but if we win then that will happen a lot later. Fight Guy, fight for your future."

Guy smiled."Yeah man. Trust me I have no intention of stopping my fight. I just need to think of how."

Trent and Guy stood on the horizon staring at the battelfield blanketed in bodies and chalked in blood. They stared at the Metropolis that stood like an angery Goliath awaiting his tenacious Davids to try one last time. The hours passed and thoughts crept into Trent and Guy's mind. Thoughts of life, love, peace, everything worth fighting for. They reflected on that for quite some time and they wondered and hoped that they would get to have those things after this day was done.
