M, I read the news story about the elementary schoolers on ths bus saying "assassinate Obama." While it is scary that one of these kids probably picked it up from one of their parents, I don't believe it is indicative of the popular attitude about the President-elect (Also it wasn't a mass cry of third graders, but rather a third grader went home and told his/her parents that some kids on the bus were yelling "assassinate Obama" and sometimes even assassinate " which I think may be more scary). And of course the KKK is rising up against him, but since no one gives them any amount of credence anymore, I don't think its particularly worrying.

Racism is certainly wrong and reprehensible, and I am sure that some people's criticisms of Obama (certainly the people whose children picked up "assassinate Obama" and repeated it are included) are race related. I'm sure that, as you put forth, there are some people who don't want a President who, in his acceptance speech, directly acknowledges groups like homosexuals.

But please don't take this to mean that all people who do not support Obama are closed-minded, hateful, and racist. We ALL must remember that the duties of our President are not neccessarily making everyone feel loved and included, but rather protecting our safety and most importantly our Constitution. And there are some people, like me for example, who feel that it is wrong to claim to be everyone's President without upholding the rights of the unborn.

I, like you, have hope for Obama's Presidency. He has been given the opportunity to make incredible changes at a crucial time for our country. But there is so so so so much more at stake than many people realize, certainly much more than simply inclusivity, and I (though I am unsure about his ability to do so) hope that he can successfully navigate the enormous amount of challenges that await him. But if nothing else, he has earned the opportunity to try, and though I don't practice magick, he will certainly be in my prayers.
