I'm gonna tell you a little story that made me smile last night.
Boy was working late so I told him to call me when he was on his way home and I'd start dinner. He called when he hit downtown and it was just enough time for me to make instant potatoes and some heat and eat hormel beef. It was also enough time for me to make 2 packages of biscuits 'cause I burned the first batch. While waiting for all the water to boil, I poured a glass of wine and put it out on the table for him.
Boy gets home and dinner is done. I ask if he'd rather have coke instead of wine and he says he'd actually like a big glass of ice water. He sits on the couch and I bring out dinner, and the glass of water. I go back into the kitchen to make my own plate of dinner and grab a can of coke out of the fridge.
I settle into the couch and attempt to open my can of coke. It's slightly dented, so the metal opening isn't doing its job and I nearly pull off the tab. He takes the can from me and rigs the can open using the handle end of his fork. "Am I going to swallow that little metal thing now?" "No, it's still there, it's just on the side instead of the top. If I were you, I'd just pour it into a glass." I let out a small "hmph" knowing that I've just settled into the couch and don't feel like getting up and also knowing that getting another glass is going to mean washing one because I forgot to turn on the dishwasher earlier in the day. He hears my 'hmph' and says, "Hold on a sec." He grabs the glass of ice water I've poured him and proceeds to drink all the water at once so all that's left is ice. He hands me the glass and wipes his mouth with the back of his hand and says, "here you go."
Love is chugging water so someone else can use the glass. :)
