well, i just got back from a date, first date in a while actually. dinner and a movie. Love Actually. i dressed up quite a bit too. im looking and feeling pretty hot. but alas the date was not all its chalked up to be. the guy has a girlfriend. oh and i'm not attracted too him. actually i was just paying off a debt. a date debt you ask, whats that

First and foremost, on looking hot, nothing I've ever done has been what it was chalked up to be. I’ve always felt a degree of dissatisfaction from anything I’ve put a little effort into but not become engrossed in. Basically, if you’re going to do the looking good thing, don’t do it for someone else, and don’t do it half assed. You want the experience? Then beat that horse till its dead is my best advice and I’m sure that you’ll find something enjoyable about it. As for looking and acting the part on a consistent basis, I would wager that not only do you not have to, but that most guys would prefer you not. Consider that as a girl, looking ridiculously attractive has (at least) two effects on the guy you’re with; 1) he looks good because he is with you 2) you look good, so other guys are paying attention, and jealousy can fuel merit.

As for your date... is it poetic justice? Maybe. The worst thing about picking up on nuance and subtlety is that on occasion if you pick up on things too subtle (not saying you have, just that its possible) and misinterpret them then you can end up playing games with yourself (this sucks, don’t do it). The benefits of subtlety however afford you the right to not look stupid if you play it safe...though let me tell you from experience that feeling stupid can make you look stupid regardless. Blah, i'm babbling again...
