This is really nice. It was a great read.

The premise is unusual and very well-done, the voices are natural, and I can totally see House being into Kipling as a young reader.

Cameron, true to form, entirely misses the joke. “I don’t have a fur coat.”
“Ahh, my little Pat Nixon,” House coos.

*laughs out loud* I'm surprised you didn't name the research dog Checkers. Ha!

Oh, dude! Checkers--I should have worked that in there somewhere. 'Cause even political pets are not immune to the ravages of House. Glad you liked it:)

Aw... House and cats, my two favorite things in the world. House would do great with a cat. Great job of showing him with... I dunno, fellow feeling. He sort of comes across as a cat himself - in constant need of toys, food, amusement, someone to pet him, someone to sharpen his claws on, someone to preen against.

Thanks for commenting:) It's an immortal question: if House were an animal, what kind would he be? Cat? Shark? Really annoying squirrel that eats your tulip bulbs?

Definitely cat, I think. He's got this cat trait of sinking his claws into people that try to pet him - either out of dislike or out of affection.

Interesting---you managed to weave the title with relevance to the research animals and House's recovery from the infarction up to the near-end of Season 2.

Very well written. :)

That was great. I really enjoyed it. The quiet post-infact-melancholy House is spot on, imo, and I love that you mentioned a middle-distance stare.

Anyway, well done. Great idea using such a small show detail, too... I love the House/Wilson practical joke dynamic, too.

"Once safely inside the Research Room, he pulled off the pen cap and twisted its pocket clip until the sliver of metal tore loose. Within a minute he’d used it to pick the lock on one of the cat cages. Crap locks for a crap lab."
Yes. Because crap locks are the only kind you can pick with one tool, which is what I assume you were getting at. Sorry to be the smartarse commenter if you weren't.
