So--hiatus update! The time has come to progress from semi-hiatus-with-frequent-appearances to a more-full-hiatus-with-dramatically-increased-scarcity-because-exams-are-happening. However, if the past has taught me anything it's that I, um... tend to ignore the fact I'm on hiatus and supposed to be doing other things. And so I show up to RP anyway

Astheroshe shifted her weight on the couch, scowling at the screen as black and white images flickered across it. "This is the height of ridiculous, Jonathan. The technology is ancient to begin with, but the material is utter mindlessness."
Johnny shook his head, hiding his grin. "It's s'posed to be, Asta. Abbott and Costello're a lot of things, but high art they ain't."
"That short one is particularly useless. Am I supposed to believe he'd last a minute in any sort of battle?"
"That'd be Lou. And, no, you aren't. That's what makes it funny -- it's comedy, princess. I know you got a sense of humor in there somewhere," he said, nudging her teasingly with his elbow.
Asta shot him a sidelong glance, while pretending not to notice he'd used the gesture to scoot closer on the couch. "Clearly I must, or I wouldn't spend half as much time in your company."
"Now that's just cold."
She went on as if he hadn't spoken. "Frankly, I'd find it far funnier if that... 'wolf-man' creature slaughtered him -- it would at least silence that voice of his."
Without another word, Johnny picked up the remote and killed the movie, turning to face Asta on the couch. "Y'really need to learn a thing or two about the willin' suspension of disbelief there." He blew out a breath, raking a hand through his hair. "Okay, Abbott and Costello are a no-go. There's gotta be somethin' around here you'd like." He pushed himself up and began rummaging through his considerable collection of videotapes, muttering to himself about stuck-up Methuselahs and poor, maligned Lou.
Asta watched him as he searched, smirking a little. "Perhaps Terran entertainment isn't sophisticated enough for a Methuselah's taste." The only reply he made was a derisive snort and her smirk turned into a grin. He wasn't the only one who knew how to press buttons...
"You'd better hope that's not true, or we may have a serious bone of contention on our hands. Where in the hell did that thing go-- Aha. Found it."
"Found what?"
His smile was sly, serving only to intrigue her more. "You'll see."
Asta leaned forward slightly, resting her elbows on her knees and craning her neck to catch a glimpse of what he'd found, but the maddening Terran kept the small rectangular box close to his chest, angling away from her as he placed the cassette in the player. He rejoined her on the couch, dropping with a boneless sort of grace against the broken-in cushions, and landing in such a way that he was sitting just that much closer to her.
Neither of them called attention to it.
