This weekend I realized something about myself. No matter how hard I try to push the "I don't need anyone" mentality and no matter how hard I try to convince myself that being alone is just find, I will always feel the opposite

"... who thinks you are the most gorgeous person..." Yes, but mothers do not count! Nor do their friends (kinda creeps me out at times), as that simply reinforces the old saying "... only a mother could love..."

I do have many doubts to your first paragraph. I'm trying to be realistic here. Setting myself up for a kick in the groin is not a fun thing to do, I've done it many times before. To put false hope forward makes you act in ways you should not act, you start looking, your subconsciousness tends to take over while you are pondering how to remove the "segmentation fault" error during the execution of your code. You then start to realize, "hey, this could go somewhere" and as soon as you reach that point, the FDOPPLER (Female DOPPLER) will automatically detect a blurb and send a signal to the female's brain and then they go into that bizarre balancing act, instead of just letting you deal with it on your own. (it makes it awkward for both instead of just leaving the guy to deal with it the best way for himself, even if that means changing the friendship to just acquaintances or letting it fade like a sunset).
