Trading Those You Love

I pulled him into a hug, both of us crying.  I rubbed my thumb across the back of his neck, him rubbing his hand along my back.

“Colby, I’m gonna miss you so much,” I sobbed.

“I’m gonna miss you so much too,” he replied, sniffling.

I don’t want this.  It’s my two best friends on the team, and they’re sending them to Atlanta.  I don’t care if we get Marian Hossa, I want my Army and Crush.  Gr.  Management is gonna kill me one of these days.

“I love you, I hope you know that,” I whispered in his ear, pulling him closer to me.

“I know, Sid.  I love you too,” he whispered back.

I turned my head, and kissed him softly on the lips.  We kissed for a few minutes, before he had to leave.  “I’ll miss you,” I told him, starting to tear up again.

“I’ll miss you too.  But hey, we’ll still keep in touch, see each other when we play each other, and spend time together over the summers, OK?”

“Mmhmm,” I agreed, a tear slipping down my cheek.

A tear slipped down his cheek and I wiped it off, hugging him and kissing him one last time, before he walked outside.

“Goodbye Colby Armstrong.  I’ll miss you,” I whispered as I watched him drive away.

COLBY’S POV

“Goodbye Sidney Crosby.  I’ll miss you,” I sighed as I got into my car.
