Jordan collapsed onto his couch in exhaustion. Surprisingly, Max could be very tiring when shopping, especially for Marc-Andre or Jordan’s gift for Evgeni. Jordan slid his hand into the pocket of his jeans and smiled, wrapping his fingers around the small box in his pocket, and closed his eyes. He had just begun to doze off when he was awoken by Erik collapsing next to him, looking as tired as Jordan and more…cranky… than normal.

“Good lord, remind me to kill Bugsey next time he gets an idea” he grumbled, running a hand through his short, spiked hair. Jordan laughed slightly, and Erik looked over at him curiously “what?” he questioned, sounding irritated.

“Dude, think about what you just said and you‘ll understand why we call you ‘stabthingstodeathsen‘” Eriik grew red with embarrassment as Jordan laughed. Before long, though, Erik had joined Jordan’s giggle-fit.

“despite Whit‘s warped mind I guess it is a fitting nickname for me sometimes, isn‘t it?”

“JORDAN!” Colby threw the door open and came bounding into the house, his arms full of what were obviously Christmas presents and sporting a Santa hat and coat. Jordan looked at Erik and rolled his eyes

“And so it begins… next through the door‘ll be Hallsy” he groaned, both of them standing from the sofa as Adam walked in.

“Hey Jord, Crush… Merry Christmas, kind of. Army, quit chit-chatting and go get the rest of your shit out of my car!” Colby grumbled and walked outside as TK and Kris were walking in.

“Hey Jord, Crush, Hallsy.” Tyler half waved, his hands full with presents

“Salut. Joyeux Noel!” Kris grinned. Jordan looked at him thoughtfully for a moment before coming up with the correct response.

“Oh! ‘E toi?” Kris nodded and smiled

“Getting better! Not fluent, but better!” Jordan shrugged and smiled

“Well, make yourselves at home” he said, and walked into the kitchen. Bugsey quickly put him to work, however slicing celery sticks for hot wings and bloody marys. Just as he finished and was cleaning up, Abby, Renata, Petr, and Courtney walked in. Before Ryan could say anything, though, Abby clapped her hands

“All right, all men but Petr and Jordan out of the kitchen. Wait, no… Erik, you can stay if you want. Everybody else, go help Rob out on the grills!” slowly, Max, Ryan, Tyler, and Kris walked out onto the patio, and Jordan turned to Abby, looking VERY confused. She smiled and shrugged

“My husband cannot cook to save his life and Max caught his toaster on fire last year. Petr and Erik at least know how to cook, and I can‘t kick you out of your own kitchen…” Jordan smiled.

“Sure ya could! I wouldn‘t mind…” Abby shot him a look and smiled

“Just shut up and give Erik a hand with his red pepper stuff” Erik chuckled

“Red Pepper Bruschetta…” he corrected. Abby laughed

“Now the big question is did you know how to make it before we made that cookbook, or did you find the recipe on food network?” Erik blushed slightly

“Both, kind of. I knew how to make it, but my mom still found the recipe for me…”

“Men!” Courtney laughed as she carried a large roasting pan of barbecue ribs out to the grills.

“All right! Cooking lessons!” Whitney laughed as he and Brooks walked in, both carrying several gift bags and a case of beer. Behind them were Dany and Cindy, both also carrying several bags. Cindy smiled and gave Jordan a hug after setting her bags down

“Hey there Jordan. Thanks for putting up with this little party they surprised you with.” she smiled Jordan nodded

“Yeah sure… not a prob- what?” he stammered as Brooks shoved a beer into his hands

“You‘re gonna need that!” he cheered before running out onto the patio, carrying several more. Jordan shot Whitney a curious look, and Whits shrugged.

“he‘s crazy…you know that.” he stated, as though it didn’t surprise him or bother him in any way. Jordan rolled his eyes again and took a swig of the beer. An amused laugh came from behind him, and he turned to find Sidney, Marc-Andre, Georges, and Jarkko. Sid grinned

“Early start, Jord?” he laughed before walking over to the refrigerator and removing a can himself. Jordan grinned wickedly

“Early start, Sid?” he mocked. Sidney shrugged and smiled

“When in Rome…”

“Wrong continent, kiddo.” Gary laughed from the doorway, He, Darryl, Sharlene, and Michelle were carrying either pans of food or bags of Christmas presents. Sid grinned and shrugged

“Same difference, eh?” he laughed before cracking open the can and taking a swig.

“Sid‘s gonna be trashed by five…” Erik mumbled from his seat next to Jordan at the island. Jordan nodded and smiled in agreement before walking out onto the patio with Ryan. They exchanged worried looks however when they found Colby sitting against the house, laughing so hard he was crying, Brooks leaning over the railing of the deck, also laughing hysterically, Adam and TK looking quite lost, and Max flailing his arms, screaming in French. Ryan looked over at Ryan, who was watching all of this in amusement.

“Ummm, do I want to know?” Ryan nodded

“Yes. Okay, so Rob went down the driveway ‘cuz he saw Mark‘s car pull up, and he asked Max to watch the stuff on the grill. So Army decides to pull a prank on him, and stand off to the side with some lighter fluid, and when Brooks came out, Max was opening the grill up, and Army was to happy about beer to pay attention to how much lighter fluid he sprayed on the grill. All of a sudden, Max is screaming, running around, and patting at his head and the whole grill was, like on fire. Good thing Max checked the wrong grill and there was nothing on it, huh?” Jordan chuckled along with Whits.

“Damnit Army, let me in on the pranks next time!” he laughed, walking over and kicking Colby in the leg.

“S-sorry Wh-Whits…it was…was …just ...too…FUNNY!” he gasped before breaking into a fresh bout of laughter when Max glared down at him.

“Loosing half my facial hair is funny???” he demanded. Jordan studied his face closely and cracked up. Half of Max’s right eyebrow was singed, his goatee was thinned out, and his eyelashes were curled from the heat. Max turned and glared at Jordan.

“Is it that bad? I‘m gonna fucking kill you Colby! Merde…” he stormed into the house and when Jordan heard a door slam, he assumed max had gone into the bathroom to check the damage. Marc-Andre walked out a moment later, and by the time Bugsey had retold the story, the goalie was laughing.

“Colby… keep a close eye on your food and drink tonight. He is very pissed off at you now…” Marc warned. Jordan shivered when a breeze blew across the back lawn, and decided he was better off with a coat of some kind. He set his beer down on the picnic table and went inside. He was halfway up the stairs when the front door opened. Ksenia walked in with a large platter in hand, followed by Sergei. He was carrying a large box, and just shooed Jordan away when he offered his help.

“I can manage. Evgeni be in moment.” He grunted, setting the box down before following his wife into the kitchen. Jordan decided to run upstairs and grab his hoodie quickly. After searching through his closet, he selected a fleece pullover. He pulled it on and turned to go back downstairs, and found himself nose to nose with Evgeni. The Russian was grinning, and Jordan shouted before stumbling backwards onto his bed

“Holy shit Geno!” he gasped. Evgeni let out a bark or laughter before handing Jordan a gift bag.

“For Jordan” he said proudly as Jordan read the tag

“Uh, thanks Geno… but we‘re not handing out Christmas gifts till later…” Evgeni shook his head

“Not for Christmas…for YOU” Jordan nodded in understanding and reached into the bag. He felt something cold and obviously glass, and blushed madly when he pulled out a large bottle of Evgeni’s favorite vodka.

“We will have fun with tonight?” Evgeni asked, and all Jordan could do was nod. Fun indeed.
