“Damn,” Chris whistled when he saw the radar. “Three digits.”
Rick, sitting on the ice near him, shook his head. “We're crazy. That would fucking hurt.”
“A lot,” Manny agreed.
Rick poked Chris. “I blame you.”
Chris looked at him, blue eyes wide in confusion. “What for?”
“You were my mentor, right?”
“Yeah,” he agreed slowly, trying to follow where Rick was going.
“You didn't warn me that I'd have to be out of my mind to face shots like that.”
Manny laughed. “You're right. He didn't warn me either.”
Chris rolled his eyes. “You'd made it to the NHL, it's a given that you were crazy,” he informed them dryly.
“You still should have said something,” Rick insisted. He grinned at Manny. “What kind of friend is he?”
Manny pretended to think about it. “Not a good one,” he teased. “But if he'd warned us and we'd quit, we wouldn't be here today.”
“Good point,” Rick agreed and shook his head. “A hundred and three miles per hour.”
“Okay, so we're a little crazy. But at least we have the best job in the world,” Chris pointed out with a grin.
The other two goalies smiled and nodded. “We do.”
