These so-called reviews will be quicker/shorter than usual; I don't care enough about the scents to go on and on about them. Just want to get quick notes for future reference, and send them to the swap box.
Cairo
The essence of holy Kyphi, beloved incense of the Egyptian Gods.
I was about to get rid of this without even smelling it, based on the description, but what the hell, why not?
This is much sweeter than I expected. A very sweet incense. Not bad.
Old Scratch
Old Nick, the Devil himself, as seen through the eyes of Victorian New England. A jaunty, dapper scent, deceptively genteel: a lavender fougere with tonka, amber, rosewood and a whiff of diabolical patchouli.
Hated the description, hated the smell. It smelled evil, and not in a good, sexy way. (But that was probably bias.) Enough said.
Heaven and Earth Essentials - Autumn
A warm fragrance and is reminiscent of fall and the cool breezes mixed with the scent of burning leaves and then lifted with Golden Amber and Vanilla and then gently kissed with Orange Blossom. Orange Blossom EO, Vanilla Bean, Burning Leaves, Golden Amber, and just a hint of Cinnamon EO.
To my nose this was rotten pumpkin and cinnamon. Guess if I liked it? :-P I might still want to look for a pumpkin scent... but one without strong spices.
Arcana - The Sweet Trade
This laid-back tropical tangle celebrates the less black-hearted side of piracy. With heady notes of caramel, honey, orange blossoms, rich coconut cream and dark Indonesian patchouli.
The description sounds very cool, but I got lightly spicy musk. Sniffed and sniffed my wrist again; couldn't find it offensive but couldn't enjoy it, either.
Masabakes
Thick black currant with the darkest, deepest myrrh, a drop of bitter mimosa and the slightest touch of mandrake dust.
Really dislike the smell. Strong, bitter. I wonder if it's the mandrake or the mimosa.
Desdemona
Innocent, soft and pure: sweet pea, carnation and water lily.
Love the description, but found the smell very irritating. It is quite astringent and sharp, in ts own supposed "softness". Tried it a couple of different times, had the same impression.
Iago, Perversion, Seraphim --> I have not made up my mind about these yet, nor am I ready to. I'll move these to my blue tea box of "Get back to someday", and forget them for a while.
