More thoughts on the immaturity of humanity
You're probably tired of all these current state of the world posts of mine, but whatever.
Although I really do sympathize with the majority of the muslim's out there who don't agree witht the violent uprisings as of late, it seems that everyone has been overly sensitive about it lately. I mean, have and of the major newspapers had the guts to print the cartoons? I think it's important that they are printed, and seen. Not that I agree with what they are implying or that I want to see anyone offended. It just seems like, they're keeping it all hidden because they're afraid of consequences. It needs to be out in the open, talked about, and maybe then, they wouldn't be so damn controversial.
If you ask me, i applaud the kids from the Illinois college paper who decided to print some in their newspaper. They too, simply felt like the cartoons related to an issue that needs to be exposed. And they get fired for it? that's just wrong. What ever happened to freedom of speech? freedom of the press?
And the whole time the major media have their panties all bunched up about Cheney's hunting accident. Who gives a crap? It doesn't deserve to be front page news. (though i find it quite comical).
I understand that it's blasphemous to portray Muhammad in any sort of illustration, much less such a degrading one. And I realize that it is offensive. But the thing is, it's not like everyone shares their opinion. People are jerks, people are insensitive and they will show it. So what? People in general need to be mature enough to accept that not everyone will agree with their beliefs and will likely ridicule their beliefs at some point. Accept it. This all reminds me of the huge controversy when Passion of the Christ came out. I dunno, I just think that everyone needs to grow up. It just doesn't make any sense to me. People need to realize that they are not the center of the world, and just because they believe in one thing and someone else doesn't and shows it, does not merit for such drastic actions.
This whole thing has gotten way out of hand. It's ridiculous.
I'm not trying to belittle anyone here and I don't think that muslims are any less mature than any other religious or ethnic or whatever kind of groups, i think all of them are immature. And, remember, this is just my opiniion, so don't get all worked up if you think i'm wrong. :)
