Con log

The con was a ton of fun but exhausting at the same time. Friday was downright chilly and there was actually a frost warning for Friday night. Saturday and Sunday were gorgeous though. I've noticed over the years that I spend less and less at AN. Not because there isn't any good stuff. It's more like I don't need more stuff, which my wallet is pretty happy about. At the con this time I bought another pair of fun contact lenses in grey and 3 manga in series. That was it. Nope, not even kidding about that. I even escaped out of DollNorth with my wallet intact although it was a close thing. I spent $20 there on raffle tickets for a chance at Batchix's St George doll but didn't win him *sniff*.

The Cafe was a great success this year. We were sold out months ago for all the shows. And we had a new person from the hotel doing our food service this year and this lady was fan-freaking-tastic. She was totally on top of everything and we got our food, hot water, dishes and everything we needed/were supposed to get when we were supposed to get them.

I picked up the arm I bought weeks ago there and the chickie I bought it from was simply lovely and we chatted for a bit. There were some very well known companies there and it was nice to see some of the sculpts in person. Soom had one of their recent releases (a grey doll with really cool claws and fangs and shit) and there was a sculptor from Spain who makes beautiful, ethereal dolls (unfortunately just girls right now).

And of course, there was my wallet nemesis, Batchix. I really like a lot of her sculpts. I'm very grateful that I don't collect girls. I like her boy machinas A LOT but am completely unable to figure out where those guys would go. She did bring along 3 of her Dark Elf boys (blank) for sale and a few Orpheus and St. George as well. There was some serious temptation right there. As always, the dolls are even prettier in person. However, I didn't have $600 bills to drop (damn, what happened to my money tree?).

But.... Batchix also had some "odd little handcasts" for sale and they were massively tempting to me. I saw them on Sunday close to the end of the marketplace. She had them in a couple of different colours and there were sparkles in their resin! They do have some issues because they are handcasts (bubbles, uneven colouring, etc.), but there were 2 that really caught my eye. I'd actually left the MP just before it closed (literally 10 minutes before it closed up at the end of the con) and I stopped in the parking lot and hesitated about going back to get one of them as I had the cash in my PP. Batchix even told me that should I decide I want one, I can just email her and ask about him. She is an absolutely lovely person, BTW. The Hubby even told me when I got home that I should've bought him since the price was on the lower end for dolls *groans*.

And what's worse... I believe I know who they are now. That was one of the things stopping me from saying, "Here, take my money." Yes, I said THEY. *whimpers* I was having a tough time choosing between 2 of them and I kinda felt them slot into place in my head this morning as I was mulling over which of them I'd buy if I decided I had to have one.

I'm afraid. Very afraid.

I am absolutely determined to get Saraf next and these 2 little guys (they're like... 30cm I think) would completely wipe out my current doll savings and then some. They are one-of-a-kind as they are handcast and sort of test casts and when they're gone, they're gone. I really like them and I'd love to have them (because I'm a dolly hoarder *snickers*) but its more important to me to get Saraf even though he's not a limited/one-off doll. *sigh* The dolls are an addiction. I know this. it doesn't help stop the wanting.
