I finished the poncho I was knitting and I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. It is also not going to the one I'd initially intended it for due to my lack of foresight into the needs of the individual *head desk*. To my credit, I did have second thoughts about suitability about half way through but decided to go ahead anyway as I liked the way it was coming together.
So, for a lucky somebody out there, this soft and warm poncho can be yours for the low price of $25 + shipping (which I don't think will be too much depending on where you are in relation to me). I think that's a pretty fair price to cover the cost of materials as well as my time in making it and it is a handknit item.
Please note that the Hubby does smoke, I have a cat and a bunny. I will do my best to keep cat and bunny fur from going with the poncho, but both of them do shed (it's actually a wonder they're not bald *rolls eyes*) so it's highly likely some of their fur will find their way to you.
The details: All yarn used is synthetic. The main colours are a very dark blue-green and hot pink. Those yarns have a sparkle/sheen to them, but they are not rough feeling on the skin. The mid-band/stripe is green, pink and blue. This fits me comfortably at the bust without being tight and I'm a 42DD. Because it is knitted, there is stretch to it so if fit is a concern, ask me and I can provide more details.
The knitted part comes to the elbow and the fringe adds another 6" of length. I used "fun fur" type yarn doubled with baby yarn so this is quite a warm piece. It slips over the head (feel free to ask for measurements) and is knitted in the round, meaning it was done as one piece and has no seams.
You could likely machine wash it, but extreme caution is advised in doing that as "fun fur" tends to matt up when washed and the fringe may unravel or get tangled with other things in the wash (take that lesson from me and my own experience *sigh*). Hand washing (as much of a pain-in-the-ass as that is) is recommended.

Further to all that, I am trying to work my way through my yarn stash to get it back to a manageable level (stop laughing, Lilly) so if you want one made for you or your kid, email me and we can discuss what I have on hand and what you'd like. Please note though that I have only a tiny amount of the hot pink and slightly more of blue-green yarn left and can't get more and there's none of the strip stuff and that is also unavailable to purchase so I can't do a mother/daughter set.
