Mostly doll babble but other stuff too

I have to say that the doll meet on Sunday was a lot of fun and the location for it was cool. One of the ladies was able to get the party room in her building for us to use for free and there was a really nice pot luck of stuff members brought to eat. I brought my camera with me and was all set to take some pictures and... the batteries in my camera were dead *head desk*. I can't believe I didn't check before hand.

Jolen was quite the hit at the meet and everybody pretty much exclaimed over his ears (they are made of awesome sauce), how lovely the shade of blue resin is and how nice the default face-up is. That sort of devolved into how crap-tacular the pics on the site are in comparison to how beautiful the dolls actually are. Talk about needing an eye to see what the company pics do a damn good job in not showing *rolls eyes*.

I am going to need to re-string Jolen's legs as he's a floppy boy right now. Even so, I have gotten him to stand unaided. It just takes some practice/patience. BBB/RS is rather known for sending out their dolls loosely strung or with elastic that isn't the right diameter for the size of doll (i.e. it looks like the elastic in Jolen's legs is about the size of elastic you'd typically see in a YO-SD). This isn't a big deal and not nearly as intimidating to me as it would've been if Jolen was my first doll. As an unexpected bonus he even came with S-hooks in wrists and ankles, something BBB/RS was known for not doing (the S-hooks increase the mobility/poseability of the joint).

I also picked up Haniel's new default wig at the meet. I had tried a slightly smaller wig on him on Saturday, but thought it was a touch too tight so asked the lady making the wig to make it a bit larger. Now it doesn't want to stay put on his head *sigh*. I can try either putting a bit of Velcro on Haniel's head to help with the wig staying on or use an elastic band under the wig. if neither is successful, I can ask the lady I bought the wig from if I can either buy the previous smaller wig or trade the one I have for the smaller one. I haven't had time to take pics of Haniel in this new wig, but rest assured, it looks great on him and makes him even cuter than before (if that was possible).

. I have a huge project I'm doing and I'd just like it to be done. Of course, one of the reasons for that is because I have 3 other projects that need to be done (or even actually started) that I can't do anything about until this big project gets done *sigh*. While I like being busy, there comes a time when you just really get sick of something and don't want to so much as hear about it, never mind actually work on it.

Tomorrow, I get to go see the architect who's reviewing the drawings (who, in my opinion, should've been the one to DO the architectural drawings in the first place) to discuss the plans. Colour me enthused. Of course, I also have a doctors appointment for yet another cryo treatment for the warts on my heel and finger tomorrow afternoon. My boss assures me I will be on time for that and I sincerely hope he's right *crosses fingers*.

Went to the eye doc this week, too. Oddly enough, my overall prescription hasn't changed from the last visit (which was in 2004 BTW 0.0 ), but it is different from the current scrip that my glasses are. So, new glasses are certainly in order. I've decided to go with the simple, cheap pair that I liked (the plum Hush Puppies for $38 for those keeping track) and I can get the other pair for $88 that I like when finances work themselves out. I'm hoping to be able to order them this week, but we'll have to see how that goes.

I haven't done any knitting or writing this week. I'm not terribly happy about that and I hope to get something done before this week is out. I haven't even found time to start Jolen's wig. While he can work the bald look, I really want him to have his hair. I got an email from chibi_trillian this evening and she finally got the blanket I made for her little hoofie guy so I can now post pictures of it!

Chibi requested white, gold and pink for the colours. I added some ties to the edge in case she wanted to be able to tie it up, but they can also be removed easily if she just wanted the blanket without ties. She said it fits him perfectly and she was amazed at how soft it is *grins*.
