Thanks for writing your thoughts.

Personally I hope Angel will stay catatonic for 3/4 of his series and we'll see the nightmares in his head.

Wasn't it wonderful? I really love your thoughts on everything. I think a few things you wrote seeped into my review (which I wrote after skimming your review on Whedonesque) so in a way I am left without too much to say here--since I already wrote a lot. I'm sure I'll have more to say tomorrow.

I feel...drained but happy. It's not the frenzy of thoughts I had after 36 or 37. I'm not sure if this issue answers any pressing questions, though there is a sense of Joss having listened to criticisms of the season, hence the swipe at Mecha Dawn. It's...sad. Bittersweet? I think there are things to analyze, especially with Buffy and Willow (I think that's a very densely written scene). It might take a few days before I'm ready to really sit down with it in a line-by-line way.

I feel tired, too. I put all this energy into writing my review and I have more thoughts (I want to think about Season 8 and "Chosen" and empowerment and so forth) but I'm just too exhausted to go there.

I guess there's no rush. Season 9 won't be here for a good long while.

Season 9 not being here for a good long while -- the one downer thought for today...

Right now I'm so tired that it almost seems like a welcome break. But I know it'll soon become absolute torture.

Season 8 feels like Buffy comicsverse birthing pains to me. They changed the world, they changed the medium, and now Season 9 will be settling in for what they do best: character exploration.

I was so happy to read your thoughts on Whedonesque, Maggie. And I even tried repping you on Buffy Forums. (If you posted this on SlayAlive, I might actually be able to give you rep for this...)

I particularly love how you framed Faith's receipt of the gift from Giles. Very much on a similar page. It feels to me like Giles bequeathed his support for both Buffy and Faith's missions, though I honestly do feel that Buffy's mission is also more his mission than Faith's. What I love so much about his will is how wise and kind he is--and of course Buffy and Faith can't see it that way, poor girls with so many insecurities. He gave them what they needed. It's beautiful and a fitting tribute to Giles.

I did what you said and posted!

The Giles thing really got me, I have to say. I just heart him so big right now -- and this was the first time I cried for him. I think it was just seeing him do right by both Faith and Buffy at the same time. As you say, neither sees it, and their still wondering if the other didn't get the better deal. But he just loved them both and now I'm getting weepy again...

He deserved it, too. This did him justice. This is the guy who knew he had to push Buffy to get her to confess that she killed Angel after he'd been re-ensouled in Season 3. This was the brilliant, observant, and kind man we all knew on the show.

And I feel like we haven't really seen him this way ever since... I'm not even sure.

That scene made me cry, too. And I'm still feeling weepy about it.
