...RENT!!!...
Ok....so yesterday was pretty much the most random day of my entire life.
Tuesday afternoon, I was on the phone with my buddy Mike...I got a beep and I figured it was Ryan H...so I told Mike I'd be right back...well I wasn't right back, and it wasn't Ryan H...
It was Rebecca from Bernard Telsey Casting in New York City!! They wanted me to audition for the part of Angel in the tour of Rent yesterday morning!!!
I had less than a day to plan a trip to NYC, but I pulled it off...thanks to Greyhound and their $137 round-trip bus rides...and Moonsense cafe...who donated over $200 to send me there!
I arrived in NYC yesterday morning at about 6:00...Ryan and I walked the streets of Manhattan all day in the freezing cold. We shook Al Roker's hand...and we were on TV twice in the span of an hour. We were on The Today Show and Good Morning America...my dad saw me!
I get to the audition a little early and hung out in the waiting room with everyone else auditioning. I got called in to audition and I think I nearly died...my first professional audition...for RENT!!!
First, they had me sing "I'll Cover You." Then they had me sing "Today For You," but apparently they wanted me to make up a dance for that while I was singing...and I just can't do that. So they said they really like my voice, but they wanted to see more movement from me...so I'm pretty sure I'm not in. Oh well...it was an AMAZING experience and now I know what they will be looking for next time!
After the audition, Ryan and I walked the streets for about 8 more hours...we ate lunch at Planet Hollywood...which was alright. I wanted to go to the Life Cafe, but it is all the way in the East Village, and there were no busses or subways running because of the strike...boo.
So as of now, I'm not in Rent...but if I hear any different, you will all know!
