WARNING : His past is kinda dark.
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Blade is a tall somewhat scrawny young man with skinny bones and a medium build but leaning on the skinny side. Big enough to not look too much like a skeleton but thin enough to fit into his sister’s clothes. (Not that he would ever be caught dead wearing them)
2. How old is he?
He is eighteen but tall enough to pass as nineteen or twenty.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Being brought up in a proud rich family he tends to carry himself rather well and appear quite confident, and often cocky.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
He is a crash dieter and kind of bulimic (though more likely to go running to work it off though he does try other methods). He smokes a bit and drinks a lot at parties.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Well due to his powers, he’s very flexible and surprisingly graceful when he wants to be.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? Eh Well if you like tall, noodly armed, scrawny guys , he’s probably great. He’s actually pretty nice looking. He perceives himself as looking all right. Pretty, but not much.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Rather tanned due to a mixture of Italian and Russian ethnicity. He also has some Japanese in him.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Black, very sleek and gelled to hell and back.
9. What color are his eyes?
brown.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
He wears glasses. His eyes sometimes start to look very catlike when he gets pissed.
11. What are his chief tension centers?
..say whut
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Well he’s rich so they’re rather nice. A bit of casual, maybe some dressy.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
Yes. And very
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Well he’s either spying or sneaking around for his family and when he has free time partying it up. He generally dresses the same.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Boxers?
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
I’d say while he’s certainly not feminine sounding he’s not too deep. Probably the tiniest bit hoarse because of his habits.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? Pretty quickly. He doesn’t usually hesitate and often gets his thoughts and opinions out (in some cases then wishes he had kept them in)
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Upper class British accent. Though staying in America has caused him to pick up some American terms and not sound quite so British. But he never loses the accent.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
He obviously speaks English the best. He knows some words in Japanese, a couple swearwords in Russian , and a little bit of basic Italian from his mother.
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
When he’s angry or frustrated he tends to curse fluently in other languages. Also when he’s insulting someone and doesn’t want them to know, (or is just trying to be clever) he’ll use Russian or Japanese.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
Sarcasm comes easily to him and he cans snark at the drop of a hat. When he’s embarrassed he tends to fumble around with his words.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Fairly eloquent. Like I’ve mentioned he often knows what he wants to say. But if he is reluctant, unsure, embarrassed, or has something to hide, he has trouble spitting it out.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
He is very intelligent when it comes to things like law and loopholes. He’s in the middle when it comes to book-smarts and street smarts, probably erring more on the side of street smarts. He’s a clever little git.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
In many cases he can think on his feet , but it’s harder or damn near impossible if the life of his sister or someone really close is on the line.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Logical and practical for sure. He isn’t idealistic and is usually on the pessimistic side.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
Throughout his early life he was sent to the top schools, be it primary of high school. He was expelled from one school in tenth grade and then his parents sent him overseas rather than have him go to a ‘second rate’ school.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Debate , law and maybe a little history. He usually enjoys debate and finds law really interesting.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
That’s a tricky question. From the outward way he acts you’d think he was very extroverted, but most of it is just a show. He’s reluctant to let anyone too close and his party lifestyle is more a method of coping. He’s been used and often tossed aside or betrayed so much that he’s afraid to have a genuine relationship with someone.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
He’s somewhat even tempered, though a bit prickly towards other guys. He doesn’t really have mood-swings naturally but if you push certain buttons he’ll react. He’s a pessimist and very sardonic about it. He’ll be more likely to show his pessimism with dark humor rather than gloomy stick-in-the -mud behavior. Because whining is stupid and annoying and he’s too classy for that :P.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
With utmost caution. If you’re male he’ll respond coolly depending on his first impression of you, either snide put downs or playful sarcasm and teasing. If you’re female he’s a lot less likely to be nasty unless he really doesn’t like you. He’ll either be a chivalrous gentleman or pour on the smarmy flirting. If he gets close enough to you he may attempt playful teasing. It may seem kind of sexist to some but he was raised by a chauvinistic bastard of a father in a dysfunctional family.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
React. Blade’s the type of guy who doesn’t ever really set out to hurt someone unless they do something to piss him off or mess with someone he’s close to. Pushing people around for no reason is bullying and he is NOT a bully, well not anymore.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Flight unless something he cares about is at risk or the fight is worth it.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Yes. Sarcasm, Gallows humor, suggestive humor and Oh yes pranks. He does it all. He prefers suggestive humor to plain old bathroom humor (which is gross).
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
POSSIBLY an eating disorder. He doesn’t like food and eating but he does drink alcohol to deal with his problems and drinking is the only exception. He uses dieting pills or runs and exercises to keep off weight.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
Where to start…..
The Psi Convention Incident Probably one of the moments in his life he’s very ashamed of and tries to forget, when he mocked his maternal cousin Skye and got in a fight. He learned that his actions have consequences.
His Truce with his Sister -He made a lasting alliance and probably one of the best relationships with a family member. Also in his mind something to keep going for.
Dex injuring his eyes/going to the hospital afterwards- He learned where he stood in the family and realized just what his parents were willing to do to stay in good graces with the head of household.
Meeting Adrian: Adrian was probably the best thing that ever happened to Blade and planted the seeds for his doubt in the Toyaka family later on. He learned what a true healthy relationship was supposed to be-equal give and take. Adrian brought out the best in Blade.
Gretchen : Gretchen became Blade’s first genuine love. He’s unsure whether she even loved him back.
Death of Adrian and Betrayal of Gretchen: all the good that was done by the friendship Blade had with these two was shattered by losing them. Blade felt guilty because it was his cousin who did it and his crush blaming him hurt even more. It made him reluctant to trust people.
Getting a Job as a Spy In America: He had a purpose and use in his family and he was away from his parents. He was pulled in by his aunt’s promises and glory among his relatives. He gave in to temptation.
Finding out about Katsuya: He’d been having more and more doubts and now he couldn’t deny it anymore. His family is evil.

Quite a few things. Facing punishment for his family’s crimes, being responsible for his sister dying or getting hurt, being declared a traitor, his father’s displeasure.

That he had any part in the evil things his relatives did or works for them however reluctantly. Also that his parents are bigots and his mom turned her back on her family.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
With his mother, he tries and tries to please her and she continues to pressure him and guilt him. When he was young her expectations were reasonable now, not so much. Her approval seems like an impossible ideal.
With his father, well it’s easy to say he hates his father but whether that’s true is questionable. He certainly doesn’t like the man. After all Tybalt made Blade feel like a failure most of his childhood. He doesn’t do much for Ana. But the man’s still his father.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
He has a little sister Anamaria. They started out as rivals but now his sister his probably his closest and only remaining friend. They both have a goal in common survive life in the Toyaka family. They’re team in spying and otherwise. Their utmost loyalty is to each other rather than the family and if given the choice between his relatives and his sister he’d pick his sister.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
The Toyaka family is enormous. First cousins are like brothers and second and third cousins are like first cousins. However he doesn’t like many of his first cousins and he hates, hates HATES Derek . The closest other relatives he has would be two of his third cousins Sylvan and Viola. He and Sylvan (and Sylvan’s kid brother Stewart) used to play together at Hanukkah and Japanese New Year and Viola would watch them and keep them out of trouble. Blade and Sylv had a semi -vitriolic friendship . Then Sylv’s little brother Stewart died around the same time Blade lost Adrian and they didn’t talk as much.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
He viewed Adrian like a brother, and he still does.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Adrian “Arrow” Aarons , a boy he met in primary school after he had to get glasses. Adrian showed concern for Blade after he was humiliated and beaten up by bullies.
6. Does he have other close friends?
He had Gretchen, who he had a crush on. He and Adrian stood up for her when she was mocked by other girls. But she changed and betrayed him.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
He has a hard time getting along with other people mainly because he distances himself and doesn’t trust them.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Honestly? Whoever treats you better and earns your loyalty. The only reason he serves his family anymore is fear.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Sorta single atm. He’s had a few one night stands but no real relationships.
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
He doesn’t have a spouse.
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Gretchen Kramer. When he was young she was the one he secretly imagined spending the rest of his life with.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
Ideally? Understanding, and loyalty. For him? Someone of the female gender. Preferably his age or older because he feels weird going out with younger girls.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
None and he is afraid to. He fears that he’ll be the same kind of father Tybalt was to him.
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Skye. His maternal cousin (Gah why so many cousins ,Blade? Frickin’ family feud stories)
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the
Kinsey scale? Blade would probably be a 2 at the moment, though he would stubbornly claim to be a zero.
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? He loves sex. It is very important. It’s a method of coping.
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Turn-Ons- Girls older than him (but not too old)
Turn Offs- Girls younger then him
Weird Habits: He likes dominant girls
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (
zodiac of
choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
He’d be either an Aquarius or a Horse, He seems to fit both somewhat well in certain areas. Though he only shows his impulsivity more when someone or something he cares about is threatened.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
His father’s family (well most of them) act like they’re Jewish (and others of them are). His head of family tends to cheery pick some of the stuff she follows an doesn’t go by it as strictly as the family used to. Since his birth his aunt has been running the family and therefore been drifting away from the stricter ways that they used to go by.
His mother, however, is Catholic and took him to service for Christmas and drilled the concept of the seven deadly sins into him and took him to confession as a child. Due to the fact that his mother misused the concept of religion as a guilt/scare tactic he’s kind of warped in that area.
He used some of what he learned to keep him from turning out amoral like some of his relatives. But the topic still intimidates him. He’s very religiously confused.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Yes. It started when he was young and with his mother’s teaching. He remembered some of the rules from church. After he got over his early childhood arrogance (after being humbled by Dex) he hung around with his best friend who taught his the concept of justice and “what goes around comes around” .
He’s sneaky and not the most honest guy but he hates killing and harming innocent people. He hates hurting kids and REALLY hates hurting animals. When it comes to his romance life, he maintains a code of ethics and makes sure his girlfriends know what they’re getting into. He hates harming women or taking advantage of them. He is basically an
Ethical Slut.
Well in order to compromise it, maybe he’d kill someone if it would save his sister but he’d feel really bad about it and never forgive himself. Also if someone killed (or harmed or raped) his sister he would go on a revenge rampage against them and if he lost enough control and they didn’t show remorse, he would probably torture them.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
He used to be a bit intolerant like his Dad but as he grew older he started to realize his parents’ views were wrong and he’s more tolerant.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
Telepaths- He doesn’t have as much of a problem with empathy but he just doesn’t want much to do with telepaths because of Derek. If they’re decent people he won’t hurt them he’ll just be like “asdsklf get the hell away from me”
Pyrokinetics- Same dealio as above with an extra dose of distrust. He assumes most of them like to toss fire around for fun. Also he fears and hates fire because his best friend was burned to as crisp after he was killed. So..yeah
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
He is filthy rich. The Toyaka family has a crapton of money. He’s used to having a credit card and a bank account. Though he is careful how much he spends to avoid risking Dex’s displeasure.
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
He acts like he’s some big ladies man in public, but he’s kind of a loner.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He now lives in an apartment in Virginia . It’s a place to crash and spend lonely nights. He probably has others on his floor or around him but he doesn’t interact with them.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Getting into clubs, buying drinks maybe a little gambling. Also occasionally treating his sister to shopping therapy.
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
Nothing really. He spies. Dex provides him money and tools and in return he gets information and steals documents.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
Blade honestly likes debating. He enjoys playing poker sometimes. He also didn’t mind martial arts and fencing, but Dex always told him he was hopeless at it and that lessened his enjoyment of it.
He spends his free time partying at clubs, dancing and spending time with women.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He hates gaining weight. He eats health food and vegetables, occasionally tuna and avoids fast food like the plague believing it to be ‘sinful and disgusting’. His mother gave him a warped view of what gluttony actually means. So he views all food as disgusting sources of fat. He makes an exception for alcohol though he feels guiltyabout it and tries to make it up by getting off the fat by any means possible. He’s started to see that his view of eating might not be the healthiest and he doesn’t hold other people to it, and encourages his sister to eat more He just sticks with it because it’s what he knows.
