i noticed that 3M has trees FULL of ripe crab apples. and, inspired by
selkie_b , i went over after work and scored 3 quarts worth(there were lots more, but there's only so much manouvering one can do in a dress). they are home in a big pot, washed and cropped of flower-ends ready to be juiced for jelly! i am very pleased with this.
in other news, ross was exhausted from no sleep the night before, so we had a mellow evening of indian food, movies and spinning(for me anyway). i opened up one of the quarts of mango chutney i just finished canning which makes me think a) i should have used smaller jars and b) maybe i should make more.
we are hoping to go take apart the rest of the shed thursday, which gives me today for library returns, jelly-making, cleaning and packing for the up-coming vacation.
ross and i will be flying out to jackson hole, whereas the grumps will be driving and have generously offered to take our baggage out so that we don't have anything except carry-ons to worry about. which is great except that it means i need to think of everything now. and also do without some of my underwear and jeans for a week and a half. which means doing wash more often. and maybe buying more underwear. it's weird to think i'm actually going to have a real vacation and GO somewhere. it's been so long i've been anywhere that wasn't the home of another family member or for a family event! i think the last time was florida 2 years ago! i've certainly had breaks since then, but they were not the same.
i am LOVING the 27-micron top i am finally getting around to spinning. i'm trying to do this job a bit thicker so that i can make a worsted yarn. oh my goodness worsted spinning goes fast compared to laceweight.
