The spirit of Chicago was alive and well last night here in Flagstaff. I spent the first part of the night partying at a friends house with at least fifteen other people from the Chicago area. We were "prepping" for the Umphreys show while watching the White Sox game and were all pumped when da sox sealed the deal to bring home a championship for Chicago. Immediate-ly after that, we walked downtown to see Umphreys play a great show. They were obviously high on the world series victory just as we were. I was right up against the stage in front of the keyboardist Joel and received high fives from both him and Stasik, the bass man. Highlights included covers of Rush's YYZ and Baby You're A Rich Man from The Beatles. They also did a rockin' version of In The Kitchen which pleased the Chicago crowd as well as everyone else in the building. Celebrating a Chicago win with a Chicago band and Chicago natives was a great way to spend a night in Arizona.
