She watches as Harry looks at the ring on her finger. The emerald engagement ring isn’t big, in fact it’s smaller than she would have expected. She notices that the shade of green is the same as his eyes when he looks at her. She wants to pull her hand away quickly, but he holds her hand. She doesn’t know what to say to him.
He looked down at the engagement ring. It should remind him of being happy with Pansy, but instead, it reminds him of betrayal. He let her keep the ring, he didn’t want it anymore. Night after night, he tried to figure out why, trying his best to understand. She never did give him a reason.
She wanted to apologize. He let her, which others said that he should not have. The one thing he learned from the war is not to hold grudges. He was happy with her, he saw a future with Pansy Parkinson, but she saw someone else.
Harry kissed her lightly on the forehead. There were no words said, there wasn’t a need for them. He forgave her but he would never forget.
