Everything was calm and quiet. It seemed so dark around her. The colorful rays of light that once illuminated the sky was now gone, it was like every color faded away and was replaced with reds, grays, blacks, and whites. Every color she grew to love faded.
It was surreal, she was dreaming for sure, but she wasn’t; the bodies that lay at her feet, lifeless piles of mass told her different. The puddle of red that gathered beneath the bodies didn’t need reminding that it was blood. The crimson blood flowed like molten lava, slow and steady, warm and yet it never occurred to her that she too was bleeding to her own death.
The warmth of her clothes felt strange against her body on this wintry night. The blood seeped through her clothing like water spreading through a dry sponge. Unlike the molten lava that was flowing from the dead bodies, her blood seemed to flow fast as if it wanted her to die a quick and painless death. Her body knew she could not handle suffering a slow and painful death; so her blood flowed fast and fierce, trying to find surface.
She didn’t want to die, nobody did. She fell to her knees and looked up at the divine sky, it was dark and ominous. She didn’t believe in the higher purpose but at that moment she did, no one would answer her at her time in need, she knew but she tried anyway.
The crimson liquid puddled beneath her and her blood mixing with the strangers’ blood beside her. As if in slow motion, she fainted to her death, seeing in the distance a blurry vision of blond hair.
