[ooc: personality and powers]

Personality: First and foremost, Misa is absolutely devoted to Light Yagami. Her devotion is based on the fact sees Kira as her personal savior, having killed the burglar who murdered her parents. Because of this, she develops an obsession with Kira that ultimately led to her meeting and falling in love with him. She gladly does whatever he asks of her, whether that's killing by using her Death Note, acting out an elaborate plan, and even giving up half her lifespan for a second time. Misa does this even though Light never truly returns her affections, as much as she tries to get him to do so. Despite this, she still loves him deeply. However, this affection comes with a lot of jealousy towards any other woman who tries to get near 'her' Light. She can be viciously jealous, as seen later in the manga when she believes Kiyomi Takada is getting too close to Light. The two have a heated discussion, in which Misa repeatedly proclaims that Light is hers and no one else's.

In normal, every-day interactions, though, Misa is generally upbeat and cheerful, to the point that she can seem ditzy. However, she isn't as airheaded as she might seem. Misa can make an intelligent plan of her own and follow through with it when she needs to, as evidenced by the elaborate scheme she uses to meet Light Yagami in person. She's happy to work as a model and actress, enjoying her work a lot. She's quite talented as an actress, as well. Her bubbly personality and looks are part of what makes her such a popular idol. Misa has a lot of fans and followers, and while most of the time she seems to get along well with her fans, she doesn't like it when things go too far; when one of them tries to grope her, she gets quite angry. (Despite her often provocative way of dressing, Misa has her limits as to what she will do - in addition to not liking it when fans get too physical, she also doesn't do any acting or modeling work that involves nudity.)

As far as her actions with the Death Note, Misa doesn't actively show regret for what she's done - even when police officers were killed. This is in part due to her believing so strongly in Kira's way of justice, and in part because she believes that to truly eliminate evil, sacrifices need to be made. I think her lack of regret may also be tied into the method she uses to kill people; she doesn't have to see it. Misa is still scarred emotionally by seeing her parents' death, and while she handles seeing violence, is never really comfortable with the idea of it.

Special Powers: Misa has made a trade with the shinigami Rem - half her lifespan for the Shinigami Eyes. These eyes allow a person to see the true name and lifespan of anyone they come across. The lifespan appears as a stream of numbers, and can - with intense study and experimentation - be interpreted to determine how much time a person has left to live. (It's never explicitly specified in canon how this works.) A user of the Death Note can use this to his or her advantage by finding out their target's name - including the exact spelling of the name, or the kanji that make up the name. Because the eyes always show the person's true name, they enable their user to tell if if their target is using a pseudonym. In addition, because of the lifespan being shown, their user can - in certain cases - tell whether someone they intend to target will likely die soon without any interference by the Note. Misa can see names in canon, but I don't think she could realistically be expected to be able to interpret lifespans. She hasn't had the eyes for a long time, and she isn't intelligent enough to perform the level of work needed to determine the pattern.

In Landel's, Misa's eyes will have the following limitations:

- She will only be able to see the 'real names' the Institute has assigned to patients. This applies across the board, whether the person has a written language or not, or whether they've died before coming to Landel's.
- She will be unable to see characters' lifespans. The area where they would normally appear will be blank.
- She will be unable to see any information about NS-only characters, doctors, or other Landel's staff members.

In addition, since the eyes also have the ability to interpret language, they will affect the way that she's able to use the bulletin board. As with the other characters at Landel's that have this power, any written names that appear on the bulletin board will appear in Japanese, and not be affected by the 'auto-translate' function.

Non-magical skills: Misa is a talented actress. This might come into play plot-wise at times.
