Wow! I haven't written in this thing forever. Quite frankly, I think I saturated myself with Supernatural (and yes, it's possible). I know I'll get beaten down for this from whomever happens to read this, but I haven't seen a single episode of Season 4 except for the first one!!! Scheduling conflicts have definitely mitigated this for the most part, but honestly, I haven't been frantically searching the torrent sites, etc for downloads like I used to. Anyway - that long rant over, I decided to take a break from studies and my residency to head to Chi-town for some fun and to see some of the friends that I have met through this fandom.
So I hemmed and hawed about coming here for a really long time. With trying to get off of work, especially when our work load has been so unpredictable, it's right in the middle of my classes and I'm about to make a 30 min presentation in my Immunology class on WEDNESDAY, and leaving my animals in the care of others - it all makes for a very stressful absence and sometimes it's just more worth it to stay home! Well... NOT THIS TIME!
I got in at about 8:45 from the airport and knew that Steve was going on at 9:30. I got into the hotel and holy crap - there was a long line! I thought that it might have been to get into the concert - but oh no! It was for the autographs! Holy cow! So I went along the line and saw people I knew and people I recognize from LJ and other websites - forgetting if I've met them before, or have just seen them online so much that I just relate to them. Dropped my stuff in my room (which was hoootttt, literally) and then went down to get my ticket for Steve's concert since mine didn't come in the mail before I left (which really p's me off since they charged me 15.00 to ship both his and Jason's!!! B*st*rds!! LOL!) But... scored a sort of upgrade - they gave me a much closer seat!!!
Waited in line for a while and then we went in. I had already seen Chad Lindberg in the lobby, then I saw Richard and Gabe in the autograph room. Steve popped out and went out to smoke before his concert. So we all filed in and found our seats. It was disappointingly empty, to me anyway. Well, I have to say that Steve was fan-damn-tastic. LOL! I don't ever say that word - but that's probably the best way to describe him. He was SO charismatic and he smiled practically the entire time. He threw out 2 or 3 of his picks to people and had such a fun time. And except for one note, nailed every single song. WOW! I love his music even more. I have to say that I do think he was a bit more animated because his family was there - but hell, I don't care. He put on a great performance, and I think he converted a few new fans, one of which was sitting next to me and came in from Venezuela! She was like, where can I get his CDs? (After the 2nd song).
I managed to get some pictures - it's difficult when you're a little far away with my camera (canon rebel) - I need to learn how to use the damn thing, I think that'd help! But I think I managed to get some good ones. I know ya'll are going to take them regardless, but it'd be nice if you said thanks! =)
"A" and I headed into the bar/restaurant to look to see if I could get something to eat since I hadn't eaten since lunch - karaoke was going on - Chad and Gabe were in there already and then Steve came in. It kinda smelled in there and seemed quite warm, so A and I went out to the lobby and crashed on the couch and talked for a good long time. People were coming out of there drenched in sweat so I'm glad I didn't stay. The hotel is having issues with their a/c units - which isn't such a bad deal since it's like 30-40 outside - but it's high 70's inside... ewww... can't sleep like that.
Anyway - another fun day tomorrow - 11 am or so is Samantha Smith (Mary Winchester) (wish we had Samantha Ferris too though!) and then the rest of the crew - and tomorrow night is JASON!!! =)
Pics will be posted tomorrow - I took 154 of them, going to take about an hour to upload to the computer and then pick and choose and then upload to photobucket. Patience, Padawan. The force is with you. ;)
