The Summer

Due to very dry conditions, my zucchini plant produced a measly 8 zucchini and then came out of the ground. I got no summer squash and only 3 eggplant. The tomatoes did pretty well, but we went weeks without rain in August followed by a torrential downpour, so the next day the tomatoes that had ripened split. I didn't bother watering for a few weeks due to family health issues which are too lengthy to go into in any great detail, but my mother was in the hospital for a week, in a nursing home for a week, and then back in the hospital for a few days. Her latest condition is thrush, caused by a heavy, heavy-duty antibiotic.

I am having a chemical stress test on Tuesday morning and an MRI done on Wednesday morning. My blood pressure got high for the first time this summer, as in 152/99. I was put on a water pill and it hasn't helped much yet. I had a chemical stress test 18 months ago and it is a horrible feeling.
The MRI is being done so that hopefully my hernia will show up. The only reason it woudn't would be due to scar tissue being in the way. I am hoping to have the hernia repaired this fall, although I might need a nerve ablation too. It all started when I had the lap band installed in 2002 and a port was sewn onto a muscle. The muscle never healed and/or nerves were damaged.

Work has been okay. There were a few weeks where I was really pissed off at the full time woman because when our supervisor went on vacation, she (not the supervisor) dumped a lot of her own work on me. I got nasty about it. Things have improved.

I have been on my own food plan since August 5th and have lost 15 pounds. I have a calorie counter by colesco that was expensive but holds me accountable for every calorie I take in. Therefore if I want a hamburger, I know exactly how many calories it has and how many more I can have for the day. I am averaging about 1800 calories a day which is good because in order to maintain your current weight, you multiply it by 11 (approximately) and then if you want to lose a pound a week, you subtract 500 from that and that's how many calories you should have per day. So let's say I weigh 330 pounds. In order to lose a pound a week, I should be eating 3130 calories a day. I believe 1800 or even 2000 calories is just fuckin' dandy, wouldn't you say?
I am very proud of myself. I do not feel the least bit deprived.

My nephew broke his collar bone this summer while roler blading. He is doing pretty well now that school has started. He turns 18 this November, can you freaking believe that?

My grandmothers are both living in the same nursing home and are nuttier than shithouse bats. What an existence, I swear. Sometimes I just don't understand.

Dickran is doing fine at work but we haven't had much time to ourselves with my mom being sick and his mother had knee surgery and then had her final court date concerning a car accident 3 years ago. She finally got her settlement.

I only work part time, but I really need a vacation. I need a vacation more from just everyday life than work, but I think my vacation days will be used up from healing from surgery. We shall see.

We have been enjoying Bella thoroughly this summer. She and Thistle have been playing a couple times a week, and having our fenced in back yard is a blessing. It will be even more of a blessing this winter, I am sure.
We got her hand-stripped by the breeder in Michigan 2 weeks ago. Her hair had grown out really long and now she looks like she did when we first got her, only a bit smaller! When we got her she had been hand stripped a month prior, I believe. Next summer I will probably have her stripped in May.

Well, that is all for now.
