Just a little ficlet by ME and Art by Camy

I saw an invite to join a community that involved writing a 100 word piece a day based on a one word prompt. I thought at the time, maybe it would be a way to revive my muse. I did produce a little piece, beyond the 100 word count, but little none the less. Anyway it worked on that count but on the down side now my LJ inbox is being spammed with replies to comments I *made* on all the other communities. Anyone know how to fix that.

So, here is the little piece I did, the prompt was 'cheese' .   Had  Camy in mind when I did this and she provided some wonderful artwork to compliment *she's the BOMB!*

Although Teyla regretted being so far from Pegasus she could not say she did not enjoy the beauty of San Francisco. Once the SGC had cleared the Atlantis personnel leave was granted. Some went home to visit family and friends. Ronon had Amelia who showed him the sights while John had taken it upon himself to do the same with her.

John had taken her for a ride on a Ferris wheel at a local carnival he had discovered, not the best he had told her but she would get the idea. Teyla now stood looking on as he purchased a bag of popcorn for her at a vendor.

“Say cheese,” the man said as he snapped a picture of a smiling couple.

“Here you go” John said handing Teyla her bag of popcorn. He couldn't help but take in her puzzled look.

“What's wrong?”

“I do not understand. Why did that man taking the couples' picture tell them to say 'cheese'? What does cheese have to do with one taking a photograph?”

John smiled. “It's just a saying Teyla. When you say 'cheese' it tends to assure that you will have a big smile when the picture is taken.”

Teyla shook her head and could not help but think, 'strange these earth people', not for the first time since her introduction to the heirs of the Ancestors.

“Come on, you'll see what I'm talking about. Hey, how about taking our picture,” John asked the photographer pulling Teyla along.

“Sure, no problem.”

John wrapped an arm around Teyla and waited. Just as the photographer was about to tell them to say cheese, he pulled her closer and burying his head close to her ear whispered -cheese!” Telya couldn't help the smile and laughter that bubble forth.

When the photographer showed them the picture Teyla's expression was one of pure joy. The feel of John's arms around her and the heat of his breath on her skin had been a bit of a bonus as well. As John paid for the picture Teyla could not help but think - there is something to this 'saying cheese'.
