The disorder leads people to have frequent fights and temper tantrums. In addition, people with this disorder display great impulsivity in their behavior-particularly with respect to behaviors that can relate to self-harm, such as substance abuse or suicide attempts. One important component of borderline personality is an intense fear of abandonment.
