In late september, i had a CT done and that day, I was told to check into my choice of critical care hospitals because i had two abcesses that needed immediate attention. one perry rectal and the other near my prostate.
i had surgery that night to drain one which left a nice deep incesion on my bottom. the other they would treat with antibiotics. i was in the hospital a week before being transferred to a "skilled nursing facility", aka a nursing home to let my wound heal and get IV antibiotic treatment.
I had a "pick line" or a "main line" in my arm 24/7 and the nurse would come in to hook me up to an IV pump which regulated how fast the meds flowed into me, usually 7am, 3pm and 11pm and take about 20 minutes.
a pick line or main line is a small tube inserted into a vien in your arm and ran to your heart. it is better for long term antibiotic treatments, they told me.
when it was done the damn pump would start beeping and wouldnt shut off until the nurse came back and disconnected me from it. that could be anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 damn hours.
there were 104 residents there and only 2 or 3 nurses. how fucked up is that??
plus i couldnt sit up because of the would so i was stuck in bed from late septemper until about a week and a half ago. being turned every 2 or 3 hours really sucked hairy ass, but at least i had a few hot aides to turn me. believe me that really raised my spirits. especially when in the middle of the night when they woke me up to turn me.
they dont have private rooms there so i had a roommate. he wasnt so bad. they got him up at 6:30am and he'd go do his thing all day and come back to the room about 11:30pm to get in bed, bu he listened to the radio all damn night. at least it was a rock station. goto
