Summary: Chris serves Zach the fruitcake with some hot chocolate and proves that home made is always better. Then there is teasing.

Zach settled down into the chair in the living room, setting down two mugs on the table in front of where he and Chris sat. "Okay...so here's the hot chocolate, and you got the fruitcake, so lets see how it is. Cut me off a sliver so we don't waste it." He motioned to the plates on the table.

Chris picked up the knife and cut Zach a slightly larger than a sliver piece. "Just try it, baby. For me?" He gave Zach his best pleading look.

"I said I'd try it and I will, just no promises on me thinking its any good." He smiled softly.

Chris just gave Zach a look and handed him his plate, after cutting his own slice.

Zach took a small bite, chewing carefully and considering. "Definitely not like I remember it." He glanced at his plate, taking another cautious bite.

"Like I said, my grandma's recipe. She could make me eat vegetables at five. No, she could make me WANT to eat vegetables at five."

"Vegetables were never my problem, I hated red meat till I was like 12." He laughed. "Once I started liking it though it was over, I loved it." He took another bite, a bit less cautious now.

"Oh, I know how much you like meat," Chris watched and ate some of his own. "So... what do you think?"

"Its not bad..." He sipped his hot chocolate, trying to hide his smirk.

"I'll take that," Chris said. He could, of course, see what Zach was trying to hide.

"Not bad enough where I may need a second slice to make sure its actually not bad and not just my imagination." He nodded, glancing at the other man again. "Purely for quality assurance of course."

"Of course," Chris nodded solemnly. "Would you prefer to cut it so it is small enough for you to judge?"

"It can be a bit bigger then this one, this is barely enough to get a good grasp of the flavor." He said firmly. "You know I like bigger anyway."

Chris snickered, clearly twelve years old right then. "I know just how big you like things, baby," and he cut a slice, checking with Zach before he plunged the knife in.

Zach actually grinned as he watched the other man cut the cake, trying to hide it as soon as the other man looked at him directly. "That should be a good secondary specimen."

"Hot chocolate's good too," Chris said as he handed Zach his plate. "Even if it takes longer to melt the chocolate than to use the powder it tastes so much better."

"You can totally taste the better quality." He nods. "Just like homemade fruit cake to store bought." He smiled at the other man slightly.

"Told you, didn't I?" Chris wasn't smug, he just knew he was right, and enjoying that fact.

"I owe you. But I've gotta figure out something I can make you like now." He sighed. "Because its gotta balance, it really does." He frowned slightly.

"We'll find something," Chris said. "You could say you made me like snow, if you like..."

"You may enjoy it but I don't think you really LIKE it. And you hadn't really messed with it before so I didn't exactly convert you." Zach frowned a bit more.

"We'll find something," Chris said. "I'm sure."

"We've got plenty of time to work it out." Zach took another bite. "Unless you keep filling me with this stuff, and my arteries harden."

"No, just for special occasions," Chris answered. He liked that Zach liked it.

"You mean you won't make me this constantly? That brutal." Zach shook his head. "Food tease."

"I am not a tease, it's not good for you constantly. You couldn't get into all those weird yoga positions if you ate it constantly," Chris pointed out. "And we'd have to borrow Shatner's uniforms for you."

"Oh...oh that was low." Zach glared. "Maybe I'd just do more yoga...ever think about that? It burns lots of calories."

"Sorry," Chris said. "That's an option," he nodded. "Whatever works."

"I'm so getting even for that Shatner remark." He laughed.

"I look forward to it," Chris answered, taking another bite of cake and sip of hot chocolate. He felt so happy right now, he was looking forward to seeing what else life with Zach would bring him.
