Had he made a mistake?
Narrowed eyes followed the couple, as Snape mentally reviewed the procedure. He’d made the hate potion correctly, he was certain.
As the bride embraced her sister, Lucius met his eyes across the room. Bastard actually smiled. Snape sneered back, but this only provoked the older man into licking his lips with an evil grin.
Snape maintained his scowl. His potion was flawless, yet the wedding proceeded.
Narcissa steered Lucius to the next group, clutching possessively. His eyes filled with loathing, quickly repressed.
And Snape understood. He couldn’t change with hate what was decided without love.
