Today I remembered why I am in a deep involved love affair with Evergreen

I LOVE EVERGREEN! AH!

One of the most thrilling things to me is driving ten to fifteen miles over the speed limit on Brook Forest drive. I can't even tell you. I love driving all around my town's mountainous curving roads. It is such a delight. Some people do well in traffic; I do well on gravel hairpins. Evergreen is so shockingly beautiful I could Just die. I LOVE MY TOWN. SO MUCH.

And my friends. This morning I went to brunch at my favorite place to eat in Evergreen - The Country Road Cafe. Sammi, Steven, and I ate way too much and had a wonderful time. We waited for a table outside because it is beautiful out today. I love Sammi and Steven's cruelty towards one another:
Steven: *flicks congealed butter on sammi's pants* "I Had to! To get her back! From when she pushed my menu out of my hands and onto the ground!"
Props steven for later using the word "nomenclature." I am going to miss him. I can't wait for us to be pen pals! The flyer he showed me full of grammatical errors was TOO MUCH. haha. i nearly cried.

We then went to play in the stream at Kittridge. I took my kids to play with the sand diggers. hehe. Sammi felt sick from her HUGE entree of food, that she only ate half of, which was still impressive considering. We waded around in the stream, which is markedly shallower this year than last, and the terrible twosome splashed water on one another. I had fun boring my friends with geological information, and Steven had fun (in typical steven fashion) poking the dead fish. Which he later amused a group of 5 little girls with - if i were still head over heels for him, his conversations with the small children would have made me melt. Luckily we're past that weird phase of fancy. Sammi said she wished she had a camera. We liked the one girl; she was sassy.

*Edit: I forgot to mention this, and idk why because it was insanely important. We think Ashley "fish hooker" Anderson was trying to reach out to us at the stream. Sammi was coming out of the stream and she was like "OW!... OW!" and realized she had stepped on a three pronged FISH HOOK , which luckily did not puncture her foot. "It was the size of a, house, i think." She said she thought that perhaps it was the sharpest pine needle ever, but no, it was a freaking fish hook. What a terrible accident that would have been had she stepped harder!

I went back with Sammi to hang out at her house for awhile. Otis is insane. Z is for Zebra. Haha.

friends, high school, nature, evergreen, grammar, car, crush, food, geology
