Quilting!
So, one of Salicia's coworkers, Dayna, lives in a house full of fabric, since her grandmother owned a shop and has since retired. She's had Salicia over to pick out anything she wanted, as Salicia has recently thrown herself into sewing (and has succeeded marvelously and immediately, because she's a talented, crafty, artsy person). Salicia even made me this TOTALLY AMY tote/purse/bag for my birthday from some of the fabric she got, which was very sweet of her, and I know I'm gonna use it tons. I mentioned that I used to sew a lot and have my machine in StL so she asked Dayna if I could come to their quilting get-together at the end of the month! And Dayna invited me over with Salicia to pick out fabric for starting a quilt project. I couldn't believe the generosity or the great selection of free fabrics! I am looking forward to meeting new people (I liked Dayna very much) getting away from academia, and diving into a new project. And I am just crazy about the fabrics. I think this will be a very fun new venture. Wish me luck that it turns out well!
