I must say, I was utterly floored by your kindness and the hospitality of the other grad students at SLU. I have to say, you all have a very special community that seems to me to be quite rare! I had a marvelous time at Saint Louis University and I trust that you are all very proud (as you should be) to be affiliated with such a fine institution.
Recently, I've been so frustrated over the behavior of a few dissident personalities that I've lost sight of just how close-knit and fun the SLU grad student community really is. Going out the last few days, and especially having Charles here talking about his experiences visiting other programs with highly competitive grad student groups helped put everything into perspective and reminded me to appreciate the kind of friendship and collegial support I get here. :-)
