Today was the first day of my last semester of coursework.
But before I get to that, Casey and I did live up the last days of break and went out to Dinner at Barcelona's in Clayton, and the food was really good! The restaurant was full of a huge sorority of girls on some sort of pledge night, which was a bummer (when did I become such a grumpy old person who thinks kids are impolite hooligans?) but we still had a nice time and I imagine we'll go again very soon. There was sangria, serrano ham, manchego cheese, delicious paella, & churros! YUM!
Drinks and Dessert
Today went well too. I was surprised at how hyper and happy everyone was to see everybody again after our long break! There was definitely a very jovial mood in the department today. Gavitt's class is HUGE (15 people!) but it seems like it's going to be a really good course. The best part of the day by far was going out to dinner after class. Us medievalists (Me, Mazero, Kyle, Sammy, and Matt) met up with our fav token Americanist Ian, and my +1 Casey, and we all went out to dinner at
Mama Josephine's. Well, it's Mama Josephine's, so of course everything was DELICIOUS, and we had the place all to ourselves cause they welcomed us in as the last group before close. But I don't know if it was the excitement of all being back together, or a huge sugar rush from all that pecan pie, but we were cracking up all night. It was a great night that put a huge smile on my face. I have high hopes that this is going to be a good semester with good friends.
