Ah paper. I start again this morning at page 13. Last night I got this far by midnight, but then stayed up til one trying to resolve some inconsistencies with the different theories about the Norse in Vinland. In the process I found a report by Dicuil, rather famous early medieval writer, who in 825 mentioned his brethren living there found no sea ice along the coast of Iceland... but the Norse didn't discover/settle there until 874! WHAT! I can't figure it out.
WAIT UNLESS HE IS AN IRISH MONK (coracle style!), and not Norse... maybe... I'll look into that.
Edit: HAHA! He's totally Irish. The world makes sense again. I didn't think the Irish settled Ireland though... next puzzle to untangle.
