So, here is my secret stupid fear. There have been a lot of movies recently set in Dark Ages Britain like King Arthur, the TWO new Beowulf movies, Tristan & Isolde, and the new excalibur movie The Last Legion, to name a few, and I am secretly worried that when I apply to grad school people will only think I'm into that era because it's been popular

Confirming your assertion: yes, that is slightly ridiculous.

And honestly, none of those movies were like, HUGE hits or anything, so I wouldn't be too worried. If you were hoping to go to grad school to study, I don't know, swashbuckling pirates of the 17th century or something, THEN maybe you'd have something to worry about as far as them questioning your motives. :)
